New Z Series IEMs from Samson (single/dual BA)

I've been really enjoying Samson's new Z series studio monitor headphones, and just saw they announced two new IEMs w/BA drivers at NAMM coming in March, in case anyone else is interested. I'll be awaiting these to try out the Zi100...

MONOPRICE Modern Retro Over Ear Headphones (New)

These are apparently still so new from Monoprice that there is no reviews anywhere, not even on the Monoprice product page. They are only $29.99 so I took a chance, having purchased many other headphones and earphones from MP in the past. These are my initial impressions:           ...

    New BA IEMs from Brainwavz?

Is this a secret? On the right it says single, dual, triple drivers, and "coming soon."

    SoundMAGIC P11S On-Ear: $20 Miracles

Purchased these on Amazon recently for $20 including one-day Prime shipping. I wasn't expecting these to be as good as they've turned out to be. These should be on any short list for budget audiophile quality on-ear portable headphones.      I'm going to keep this review short.    Build...

    Philips SHE8100 Review: Unsung Heroes

*Closest competition: Soundmagic E50, mentioned below*   I got these for $15 on Amazon along with the 9100. I think both of these were released late last year. The 8100, pictured here, is an astounding deal. I've used the even more budget-oriented and more popular 3590 as well as the newer...

LG V10: Can't tell difference when DAC turned on/off

I loaded up my V10 with an album of 256 bit rate MP3s and listened to it with stock music player using Monoprice 8323 headphones. Cannot tell the difference. Am I doing something wrong or will the DAC only be discernible with higher quality headphones?

MEE Audio RX18: Budget Audiophile Gems for $10

There is a much more detailed review of these on Head-Fi, so I only wish to chime in with my sheer surprise at how good these actually are. Bought them on Amazon back in December for $8 on a whim. They looked brand new so far as I could tell and for the price I figured they would be a good...

New MONOPRICE Hi-Fi Over the Ear (12230)

These are only $50 from Monoprice right now, and what a steal they are. They are made for portable use including a removable cable with mic (for iDevices only, unfortunately), but represent an astonishing value for budget audiophiles. These are not billed as studio monitors per se, but they...

Best Budget Studio Monitor Over Ears tuned "flat"

Not having the luxury of trying headphones out in store, I'm trying to get a sense for which of the following would best suit my needs: Sony 7506, Audio Technica M40X, or the very *new* Monoprice HiFi Over the Ear, for which there are a mere handful of reviews, and none on Head-Fi.    I'm...

New Monoprice On-Ears (reviewed glowingly by Cnet)

Anybody else have these? I'm really interested in getting these considering there $15 price and comparison with headphones three times more expensive. http://www.cnet.com/news/monoprices-14-99-on-ear-headphone-is-almost-too-good-to-be-true-says-the-audiophiliac/

    MEElectronics A151 2nd Generation Impressions.

I took advantage of MEElectronics's Cyber Monday deal on their brand new second generation A151, and what a bargain it was. I've had the original A151, at least two sets, one with the old MEE logo, since they were introduced maybe four years ago (not sure how long it was). I've been a big fan...

Philips SHE3905: New and even better than 3585/3595

I found these new SHE3905 in a local Target next to the SHE3595. The 3905 come with a mic for $22. Considering how good the 3595 are, I thought I'd give them a shot and was pleasantly surprised to hear they sound very similar to, if not better than the 3595/3585/3575. I don't have my original...

    Hifiman RE400 or Meelec A151/A161?

Can anyone comment on the differences between the 400 and the A151 and 161? I'm looking at buying the 161 or the 400 but already have the 151. The 151 are a tad too warm sounding to my ears. I'm hoping the 400 is brighter, but the 161 can be had for a bit cheaper.

    Klipsch X4i Impressions

Thought I'd offer some very brief impressions of the low end model of Klipsch's BA series. I'm comparing these with the Meelec A151 which are $100 cheaper and also feature a single BA driver. Simply put, the X4 sound great. Are they worth $150? I'll leave that up to the pro reviewers to decide...

    Meelectronics A161p need amp?

There's a noticeable difference when driving the A161 through my laptop compared with my iPhone.  I've checked to make sure that I don't have any EQ filters on.  Listening to the same songs in Amazon Cloud Player and iTunes on my laptop, and then through my iPhone, the latter definitely sounds...

How Bassy are the Monoprice 8323 DJ Headphones

I'm looking at these coming from the 8320 IEM, which I really like. Looking at various reviews across the net, I'm getting a really confused idea about how bassy these are. I'm NOT looking for basshead level headphones. I'm looking for a more balanced sound. I'm reading that they're "warm," but...

    Panasonic RP-HJE295 vs RP-HJE355

Panasonic HJE-355 on left, 295 on right ($15 and $8 on Amazon, respectively) I don't have any detailed review for anyone, so sorry if anybody was expecting something brilliant. I know the 355's get some attention in the budget category here, especially since receiving a good review from Cnet...

MEElectronics Air-Fi AF32 On-Ear Bluetooth Headphones: First Impressions

Wanted to provide some personal feedback on MEE's new Bluetooth headset.    First, packaging and design are very nice.  The color scheme immediately resembles Dre Beats headphones, but this scarcely bothers me.  I would prefer an all black design if given the choice though.  Comes...

Klipsch S4 Reference: Can Anyone Comment On These?

These are only just now available to buy from Klipsch, but I am wanting to know how these are different from the regular S4s.  Please,  I am not asking for comments on the S4 themselves, I know what they sound like, and I know they are not too popular on these boards.  I just want to know what...

    Sennheiser HD 419 Impressions

In looking for a budget headphone, and knowing Sennheiser recently updated its 200 and 400 lines, I thought I'd take advantage of Best Buy's current sale on the new HD 419's, the lowest model, for $40.     I am no expert and don't usually write reviews, but because there is nothing written...

    Klipsch Image S3 Review

******This is an entirely non-professional review.  Perhaps "impressions" would better describe the following.    I have tried a hell of a lot of in-ears in the sub-$100 range, and the competition is steep.  When you get into the $30-$60 range, the competition gets even more crowded.  I...
