Still would like to know the recommended power rating for the external source possibility - 12v, 13v, 14v, 15v? There is no way it operates the same across all those choices, thd+n must change no?

Thank you so much for the reply!! I bought the AMC CVT 2100 MK2 as power amp only, and it is a major upgrade over my NAD 275BEE, really! Now all I own is class A and I have that tube sound I like. I have ordered a better sub and will continue using the y-splitter from the pre-amp.

After having searched around a little, I can see that connecting a Dragonfly or other USB dac directly to the Iphone through CKK cable, won't give it enough power to run. So, instead I am thinking of getting the JDSlabs C5D and connecting that - will this cable work, is the question...
