I run the Maverick D1 as a dac with WE 396A and a SUN HDAM from gd-audio and its superb. But probably at this point if you're builindg the crack most likely no point. As a headphone amp it was alright but as a DAC it is superb. Just how I see it. I have quite enjoyed what I've put into it...

Million miles different. Very curious how having 3 on a D2 will sound haha.

I have a D1 which only uses 1 op amp (one for headphone out and one for the tube preamp/output) so on the D2 it uses 3 op amps. If I wanted to use the Audio-gd HDAM, I would need to get 3 for a D2 then correct?   I wonder how that would sound.

I presume the 3 opamps are split for certain in and outs? or are they all active at the same time?

Not that I am aware of but warranty should take care of it.

On the D1 I know it uses one slot for the DAC aspect, so you could slot in like audio-gd HDAM or something like that. As the D2 has no headphone output or anyhting like that and I wanted to put the HDAM in, do i need to replace all 3 ? or just one for the tube pre-out? :) I have a friend...

The normal analog out is striaght from the DAC and not through the tube. The pre-amp goes DAC-> Tube -> out.

That has me quite interesting. I have a D1 with swapped out tubes and swappd out DAC. I have been considering a D2 and just pop the lid off and do what I did with the D1 to the D2. I dno't use the HP output, nor the line in or out anymore unless I take it on the go with me. It already...

The reason most people would have headphones over speakers is because they can't use their speakers :P. Its more or less the unverisal truth. Also as you go up the chain...speakers and the gear to really bring them out become expensive and consuming.

Apparently never got the notification for this. This may be due to the windwos driver changing its "default" speaker device. Not sure. I run my through the optical.

Fair point on the pure part. I should rephrase in the sense that some cars like to be flamboyant (like coloured headphones) as opposed to a car that corners and handles magnificently through corners without its tail trying to throw you out the other side. I went through the article though...

I think a fair analogy would be cars. If sports cars were controlled, pure, efficient and no hassle. It wouldn't be a sports car. People want cars that can kill em. Isn't why people love Mustangs or Ferraris and the likes.

I use mine wth my ATH-ESW9A and B&W P5s and I love it. LOD out to it helps with the sound stage and response in the range in general. It is nice :)

Double Triode Russian 6N3P-DR Great little buggers! I love them. A little bit more sharper / treble then the WE 396A but great clarity and punch. I'm not very techinicla in the description of the sound but I would definitely recommend these.     The ones I have come in the red blue Russian...

What do you mean by the USB connection resets? If a connected device powers off; the computer will no longer see it as a connected device.

That is what I was saying but didn't word properly. the SUN HDAM can be used in the h-amp. which is why I only bought one as I never use both simeutaneously. 

there are two slots in the D1. one for the Hamp one ofr the tube out.

I ended up getting the SUN HDAM. They have extension leads for you to stuff the HDAM inside the case if you want to closer her up. Abosutely amazing addition to the D1.

I want to swap / put in bigger caps but don;t jnow where to start....or what to do.. ><. Did it with my X-Can V2 but not sure what to do with the D1. I wonder how the OPA2134's compare to the Audio-gd SUN HDAM.

It Sucks hearing people having bad luck with their D1.:( I k kw the early production units were finicky but figured by now it'd be okay. Best of luck to those needing repairs.

Haha. Wicked etys! I have the WE 396A and it is very nice.  Currently paired wit the audiogd SUN HDAM and yyum.

Gary gets busy and sometimes e-mails do disappear. People don't seem to realize this and often get bad luck when it comes to servicing.   Just give him another shout out. He semes like a really good guy of all the times i've talked to him. Bummer your amp is not working. Maybe it got damaged...
