thanks so much for your help.  my computer does have a toslink connection, but my nuforce dac doesn't.   what cables/splitter should I buy?

i used to do this:   computer --> Nuforce HD via USB --> receiver via RCA cables (red and white)   when i plug my headphoens into the Nuforce HD, it would play music through headphones.  once unplugged, it would play music on my 5.1 speakers.   so the answer is that the receiver...

ok so i've got it set up like this right now:   computer --> Nuforce HD amp/dac --> V200 --> HD800.  i want to include my 5.1 speakers + receiver... so that when I unplug the headphones, the sound goes directly to the receiver/5.1 speakers.  how can I do this?

i have the Nuforce Icon HD as an Amp/DAC for my HD650... but I bought this back in 2010.  Not sure if there are better combos now.

so the Audeze LCD 2 is DEFINITELY a no-go? 

Currently I have: onboard sound --> optical cable --> Nuforce HD Icon DAC/Amp --> HD650 I also have some crappy 5.1 receiver that i'd like to include in the loop somehow? Plan is to upgrade to Audeze LCD2s. good idea? is there a better way to set up my "loop"? Thanks!

thanks for everyone's advice so far.   the Nuforce HD is gonna cost me $370.20 (+ random customs taxes) american.... is that a good deal?   i might be able to push the budget to that...   but the leader right now is the LittleDot IV (not SE.... does it make a big difference?)  ...
