Do you mean between the HE-5LE and the HE-500? Well, the HE-500 is quite a bit heavier, and in my experience is better in almost every way to the HE-5LE. Is the difference huge? No. But it is noticeable. 

I have both the HE-5LE and HE-500 and have only used ss amps, and I wouldn't ever describe the highs as 'tiring'...

I've found a Lavry DA10 available locally, which seems pretty rare (in Canada). I've searched the forums, and most experience with this unit is 5-6 years old, and somewhat uneven. Is it sill worthwhile building a system around this DAC?   My current headphones are Hifiman HE-500 and HE-5LEs...
