Abyss Owner Buys Beats by Dre Studio's!

They look a lot better.. But, IMO, the drivers are poor. I heard 200.00 headphones that better the Beats by a good margin.

    The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...

Welcome. No headphone I heard or owned comes close to capturing studio reverb like the DT48.. I know some people who claim they don't like the DT48 because voices have an 'echo.' It's not the headphone. It's the recording. I owned the T1, and it couldn't capture studio reverb half as well.. I...

    The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...

The E models have ohms of 8, 25, and 200.. The A models are only 5 ohms.. From what I read, the 8ohm models are from the 70's and sound less conventional then modern DT48 models.

    The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...

I read the over the ear pads give better bass presence and impact.. And maybe a bit bigger sound stage. My pair sounds much better with my new OPPO Flagship BRP with the built in headphone amp and high end sabre dacs.. These headphones really scale well with better gear.

    Meridian Prime Headphone Amplifier Review

2,000 Amp/DAC with 'optional' 1250 psu. Better off getting a great amp/dac with a beefy ps..

Oppo PM-1: A New Planar Magnetic Headphone!

Not fair. Their 1,000 BRP is their flagship model. Their 'entry' level BRP is around 4-5 hundred I believe. That is like saying Senheiser doesn't make cheap headphones because the HD800 is 1,400..

Oppo PM-1: A New Planar Magnetic Headphone!

OPPO means quality, and great value.. People who balk at their flagship 1,200 player, don't realize that to get better, you would need to spend 2-3 times more.. Also, what other 1,200 BRP support support a balanced connection? Their best up converting player ranked just as good, or nearly as...

    The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...

I recently purchased a early 70's 200ohm DT48..I changed the pads from rubber to foam. The sound is eerily stat like. It could also be my new amp and dac.. Better then my 701 and 2010 DT48.

    Defective T1's?

My buzzing was on the right. The experience was like a punch in the stomach. The most I paid for a headphone was 250.00.. My 701. They still work fine. My new T1's that I paid 1,000 for.. Defective. I could not send them to Beyers cause my warranty was invalid, since I bought it from Amazon. And...

How does it effect the music? Lows go lower?

    The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...

I'm sure this will be sacrilegious in some area's on Head Fi, but the DT48 is easily the most transparent and honest headphone I have ever heard in my life.

    AKG K702 Headband mods

They clamp and cause sweat build up. My 701's are more comfortable. Sound is subjective, but the DT48 has less bass impact then the 701, but offers a more pure and faithful mid range. YMMV. Never heard the 702, though.

    The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...

Yes. Very odd headphone. I read they were used by the 3rd Reich for surveillance purposes. Maybe that is why the mid range is so strong?

    The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...

The ultimate hit or miss headphone. They can sound extremely bad or extremely good; soly depending on the source. No other headphone I heard or own come close in that regard.

Why is the Saxophone MIA in rock today?

It seems like I have to listren to music before my time to get any Sax..   In terms of getting me emotional, no instrument comes close to the Sax.   Songs I like with the Sax.   Bakers Street. Sax solo has to be heard to be believed. Baby Baby, Linda Ronstadt. Songs from Glen...

    The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...

Quote:   The DT48's mid range clarity is better then the T1 in my opinion.. But the T1 has a cleaner sound with no distortion. A Tesla DT48 would have been interesting.

The AKG K712 Pro Support and Impressions Thread

I own/ed both 701/T1. No way is the 701 on par with the T1. AKG is misleading the public, when they put out a 'new' headphone, when it's more of a slightly tweaked 701 with a different look. People on head fi know the 712 is not a new headphone, but how about non headphone geeks? To 95% of the...

    The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...

Quote: I have the 2010 model. I love them for work and anayzing voices.. In my opinion, the DT48 is pretty flawless in terms of voice authenticity. I know you can get pads directly from Beyers.. But where did you get them from?

    The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...

Quote: It's hard to judge this headphone because it can change night and day depending on the recording. There are times, when I listen to the DT48, and think.. Wow, these sound awful.. Then, I listen again to another track, and they sound drop dead amazing.. The bass, type of bass, and...

    The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...

I'm curious how the DT48 would sound on a vintage amp from the 70's, and with vinyl. I heard the DT48 sound is taken to another level with NAGRA analog gear.
