    Anedio D2 DAC release

What may be at play here is that there's a difference in output impedance of the D2 DAC once you go below volume 82 (resistor kicks in on output at volume setting 81 which changes the output impedance). Depending on the input impedance of your amp this can potentially roll off highs.

    Anedio D2 DAC release

Btw, I found the old Anedio website can still be read through the Wayback Machine, including the latest 1.56 driver! https://web.archive.org/web/20161203123004/http://www.anedio.com:80/index.php/audio/gandalf Links are clickable, and under "data & manual" you'll find the link to the 1.56 driver...

    Anedio D2 DAC release

Ok thank you! The serial is D2C2549, without any knowledge of how they assigned serials it doesn't sound like an earlier batch if they started with D2A0001 :) So I'll get a power transformer. I think I will indeed enjoy it! :) Looking for a very reveiling clean sound with a great soundstage...

    Anedio D2 DAC release

Just bought an Anedio D2 on Ebay! Really looking forward to hearing it. I've been longing for this DAC since it came out I believe :) It's an 110V version though and I live in Europe. Can use it with a 230V to 110V power transformer of course, but am wondering if it can be switched to 230V...

    SMSL VMV VA1 headphone amplifier

I asked the question to SMSL support and they replied that the outputs are 10ohm and 150ohm. They didn't say which is which, I asked this question in a reply, hope they will reply again with this info. Though I'm guessing the "HIGH" output has an output impedance of 10ohm and the "LOW" output...

Can someone tell me the output impedances for the High and Low outputs? Would be much appreciated!

    Philips Fidelio X2?!

And the VEIL ;) I'm not much of a fan of the HD600, all midbass hump and mids to me, and that veil is just horrible to me (yes I've heard them amped properly, doesn't fix it for me). I like the HD650 better. Very un-neutral though, big bass makes for fun with lots of electronic music but again...

    Philips Fidelio X2?!

Ah we may be getting a misunderstanding here :) The quote of "very similar" measurements was about X2 vs X1.   I know almost nothing of the L1 and L2 but indeed read the L2 are a big upgrade from the L1. I assume they will measure different as well.

    Philips Fidelio X2?!

If this were so then that would have probably been picked up by Tyll's measurements? Not saying he didn't pick them up but the words he used were "measurements show them to be very similar to the X1". Without a proper comparison I'm thinking it's more likely they used new words to describe...

    Philips Fidelio X2?!

A bit of googling gave me this: http://www.hifi-forum.de/viewthread-110-15210-3.html   Quote: " Ich habe den Fidelio X2 heute im MediaMarkt Dresden ElbePark hören können. Dazu im direkten Vergleich den X1 Ich bin kein geübter Hörer und kann demzufolge nichts weiter sagen, außer das ich...

    Philips Fidelio X2?!

I'm in anticipation of the comparison as well! It wasn't at all clear to me from the Philips info if they have indeed made changes to the driver or if it is a new way of describing the same driver. Any chance of giving us a quick impression? :) Do the X1 and X2 sound the same? (using the same...

    Review: Violectric V800 DAC

Hi Project86,   I knew about the USB to SPDIF, but I missed the SPDIF to USB functionality apparently :) Thanks for the the info!   Btw, I posted a few posts back about a case of mild distortion at times when using both the XLR and RCA outputs at the same time. I've found the source...

    Review: Violectric V800 DAC

Quote:   Yes you're right :) V800!   I don't like how it looks, I do prefer black over silver I think. But overall, I don't really care, it's about the sound! :)   It's been too long ago with the D18 to do any in depth comparison. Also only had the D18 for a week or so I think...

    Review: Violectric V800 DAC

Quote: I once (many years ago) had quite some money from starting up a successful internet company, and got M.Acoustics Coherence stage speakers, Manley tube amp, expensive turntables and phono amps, etc. About a 30.000 euro setup. Also had a fairly big room back then but untreated...

    Review: Violectric V800 DAC

Quote:   Yeah but those really high end / high dollar setups are also usually in the more expensive houses with bigger rooms. Bigger rooms are much better than smaller rooms. Still, indeed I often shake my head in disbelief when I see high end $20.000+ setups in untreated rooms...

    Review: Violectric V800 DAC

Quote: I disagree. I don't think a $100 DAC sounds like garbage. It can sound quite wonderful, with some errors. But nothing like the huge errors of untreated rooms. And acoustic treatment / broadband absorbtion panels are something for life. You can take them with you if you move...

    Review: Violectric V800 DAC

Quote:   Your reasoning seems sound to me. Haven't heard the M-DAC myself, but I doubt it is any better than for instance the Yulong D18. And the V800 sure is better than the D18.   Btw, if you're listening to speakers. Acoustical treatment is far more important than your DAC...

I'm hearing a clear difference with the USB input between no resampling and resampling. It's subtle but it's there. Resampling brings more focus and low level detail, listen to the reverb tails behind sounds. I'm keeping mine set to "best".

    Review: Violectric V800 DAC

Great review, and after seeing the price here in Europe I got one :) Thanks!   Love the sound as well. Finally after all these years neutral detailed precise sound with no nasties. Best mids I've ever heard by FAR. (ohno just remembered the UDC1 had great mids too, but wasn't otherwise...

Did anybody get an email from Anedio about their D2 yet? I pre-ordered mine on 15 January. Haven't heard anything since.

Haha nice. You have humor sir :) I'm hoping along with you that it's an experiment and they come clean at some point. Would be good for the audio community.

Quote: Got it, I'll reply in more detail in a PM. But the basic idea is to make you own broadband absorption panels. They are kind of expensive if you buy them ready made. Those a pretty small (and often too thin) and you'd need a lot of them. For the same money of a small thin...

Acoustic treatment will probably make all the difference in the world. It matters much much much more than which DAC you use. If you made a DAC decision with an untreated room you may find you'd make a very different decision after treating the room. Smoothed highs for instance will compensate a...
