What may be at play here is that there's a difference in output impedance of the D2 DAC once you go below volume 82 (resistor kicks in on output at volume setting 81 which changes the output impedance). Depending on the input impedance of your amp this can potentially roll off highs.

Ok thank you! The serial is D2C2549, without any knowledge of how they assigned serials it doesn't sound like an earlier batch if they started with D2A0001 :) So I'll get a power transformer. I think I will indeed enjoy it! :) Looking for a very reveiling clean sound with a great soundstage...

Just bought an Anedio D2 on Ebay! Really looking forward to hearing it. I've been longing for this DAC since it came out I believe :) It's an 110V version though and I live in Europe. Can use it with a 230V to 110V power transformer of course, but am wondering if it can be switched to 230V...

I asked the question to SMSL support and they replied that the outputs are 10ohm and 150ohm. They didn't say which is which, I asked this question in a reply, hope they will reply again with this info. Though I'm guessing the "HIGH" output has an output impedance of 10ohm and the "LOW" output...

Can someone tell me the output impedances for the High and Low outputs? Would be much appreciated!

And the VEIL ;) I'm not much of a fan of the HD600, all midbass hump and mids to me, and that veil is just horrible to me (yes I've heard them amped properly, doesn't fix it for me). I like the HD650 better. Very un-neutral though, big bass makes for fun with lots of electronic music but again...

Ah we may be getting a misunderstanding here :) The quote of "very similar" measurements was about X2 vs X1.   I know almost nothing of the L1 and L2 but indeed read the L2 are a big upgrade from the L1. I assume they will measure different as well.

  If this were so then that would have probably been picked up by Tyll's measurements? Not saying he didn't pick them up but the words he used were "measurements show them to be very similar to the X1". Without a proper comparison I'm thinking it's more likely they used new words to describe...

Acoustic treatment will probably make all the difference in the world. It matters much much much more than which DAC you use. If you made a DAC decision with an untreated room you may find you'd make a very different decision after treating the room. Smoothed highs for instance will compensate a...
