808 Headphones?
Audiovox gave me a set of these. They are almost unbelievably good compared to what I expected from them. Yes, the build quality is questionable (the plastic squeaks, the fake leather of the ear padding seems cheap, etc.) but the sound quality is very good. I'd say the SQ is much better than the...- pnosker

Ultimate Ears Personal Reference Monitors: The *Custom* Custom In-Ear Monitor
Just tried out this setup at the UE HQ. Wow... very interesting. I blew out my right eardrum scuba diving a couple of years ago. I've never been able to get the sound to be balanced quite right before. Even using equalization and DACs didn't make it sound right. The UE box did though. I...- pnosker

Sleek Audio CT20: First Impressions
Ok guys... it is a joke. It was done very very well though. They did actually make a set of these. The coil is a giant inductor and the large resistor is used to balance the non-bass drivers. There's no way it would be loud enough driven straight off an iPod or something.- pnosker

Sleek Audio CT20: First Impressions
They have a CT20-m model for those who have normal sized ears. Instead of being flush with your ears, they stick out about 0.5 cm. This is the style I got. You haven't heard music until you've heard them through the CT20s. I'll admit, it's a bit odd for them to announce on April Fools day... but...- pnosker

Sleek sent me a set too... they're ridiculous. After about 15 minutes I noticed blood dripping out of my ears. It was so worth it though.- pnosker

NuForce Icon Mobile Impressions Thread
I really think NuForce's Icon Mobile is a top bargain. I'd like to start a thread full of reviews for it. If you don't have one, it's $80 and a fantastic deal. I'll start with my review: http://www.pnosker.com/reviews/audio/940-nuforce-icon-mobile-review Of course, if you have any...- pnosker

UE700 for $80 - go for it or skip?
Quote: UE3= Super.fi 3? You can definitely tell the TF10 and UE700 apart due to their differing sound signatures. It really depends what you want. TF10 is bass heavy and is uncomfortable. They sound great with certain songs however. The UE700 fit the same way, but they don't take up...- pnosker

UE700 for $80 - go for it or skip?
The UE700 are one of my favorite IEM. I prefer them over the TF10. They sound almost as good and are infinitely more comfortable to wear. They are so small, you can sleep with them in. http://www.pnosker.com/reviews/audio/118-ue700 If you have any questions, I am more than happy...- pnosker

NEW ULTIMATE EARS !!! (600/500/350/200)
Just a few quick notes from my experience at NAMM: The 600s are the Super.Fi 5's-- I was told they are the same. They're just trying to clean up the product naming scheme. The 500's are the preferred universal IEM of several employees. This includes one of the designers. The...- pnosker

JH Audio's JH-5M Impressions
Sorry for the super late reply! I've been very busy. As for whether JH Audio can make low profile versions of others, I believe they can. I suggest contacting Beth Orliss http://hearingdynamics.net/ as she has the exclusive agreement for the M line.- pnosker

Sonomax Soundcage V4 custom IEMs

Sonomax Soundcage V4 custom IEMs
I hope so too. Imagine a "value" line of JH Audio or Ultimate Ears without the necessary multi-step manufacturing process for the shell, computer modeling, or an audiologist visit. Maybe the JH-16 Pros could be made with this type of system for half as much!- pnosker

Sonomax Soundcage V4 custom IEMs
Yep, it's very interesting. Instead of the feeling of pressure with an audiologist mold, it just slowly gets quieter around you. Basically, there's a dry silicone balloon that fills your ear canal and silicone fills that balloon. That way, no "wet" silicone touches your ears and it cannot get...- pnosker

Sonomax Soundcage V4 custom IEMs
I was with my website (pnosker.com) at the CES NY Press Preview today and got to check out something I haven't heard of before: Sonomax's Soundcage system. They're going to be released at CES in January (we'll be covering it too). Basically, they're a set of custom IEM made of silicone...- pnosker
