    Best smartphone for playing music...

I currently have a 64gb iPhone 6 with verizon. I like it for the most part but hate having to use iTunes match  and data for my music. Idealy, i'd just upgrade to the 128gb model. Only problem is, it is expensive as all hell.    So I ask...   Which android phone is best for listening to...

    Sony Xperia Z3 Audio Quality

So what is the verdict on this phone? This thread is really really long.    How does it compare to the iPhone 6, sonically? Blame nostalgia, but I grew up with a Sony Walkmen CD player practically strapped to me at all times. That being said, i'm interested in this phone and its sound...

Sony MDR-V6 (and family) Impressions Thread

I saw a pair V6s for sale, for the first time today. This was sort of exciting for me. I've owned the V6 before but it was nice to be able to demo and hold a decent pair of headphones in person at a actual store. Not a lot of places sell headphones around here.

    best headphones under 200$

I'd recommend the Sony 7506. They aren't technically known as basshead headphones but the bass is clear, deep and fast. It's not as boomy as the m50 but is way more controlled and faster. It makes music engaging and exciting.

Pearstone Replacement Earpads vs. Original Earpads for Sony MDR-7506 & MDR-V6 *** Pictures ***

Has anyone tried the sheepskin ear pads for the v6/7506? how do they fit and do they change the sound?

Sony MDR-V6 (and family) Impressions Thread

I'm not sure if it is because they are slightly squeezed into the new packaging but noticed that I had to give a little push in order to get them out of the packaging. On top of that, the cable seems to have tons of static when I plugged them into 3 different divices. This happened with two V6's...

Beats Solo 2: Is the Head-Fi community willing to give these a fair chance?

Got these for christmas since my family knows I like headphones haha. Honestly, not bad. Very bass heavy but they don't cramp the mids as much as I remember the Solo HD's did.

    M-Audio HDH50 - the successor to the popular Q40

I guess mine are defective because they never lock into place. They rotate if I'm moving around.

    M-Audio HDH50 - the successor to the popular Q40

So when connected, it shouldn't turn right to left? The plug when inserted isn't loose, just the locking mechanism on both ear cups and with both cables.

    M-Audio HDH50 - the successor to the popular Q40

Is the cable connector or "key" supposed to lock the cable into place? Once I connect the cable to the headphones and turn the connector into place, it doesn't lock in. It move around switches position. Is this normal?

    M-Audio HDH50 - the successor to the popular Q40

This review basically sold me on them. They sound like everything I am looking for.      "I've been using HDH50 for a few months and it looks awesome, feels awesome, and sounds awesome. This what V6/7506, HD280pro, and HD380pro should have been. Flat-like tonal balance, not like ATH-M50...

    M-Audio HDH50 - the successor to the popular Q40

Wow thanks for the great response.    The cable is detachable, correct? And if so, how many cables are you provided with? And does it come with a pouch/carrying bag?    Thanks again.

    M-Audio HDH50 - the successor to the popular Q40

How do these sound? Considering these after I stumbled upon them and read a amazing review on amazon comparing them to other v6/dt770/m50/srh840.

    Sennheiser HD 25 1 II

Thanks for the reply. I guess I just have to wait til they show up and give them a try. As for a amp, I'm just not a fan of carrying around more than I need to. I own a fiio e7 and e17, and they are both prortable. I just don't want to carry a amp if I don't have to, you know?    Thanks again...

    Sennheiser HD 25 1 II

I have wanted these headphones for a couple years now and thanks to a gift card from Best Buy, I was finally able to buy them.    The thing is, I am starting to regret the purchase. I read that they were great with portables but that was a couple years ago. Any newer threads from 2012 and on...

How long have you had your m50s?

Let's see who has the oldest working pair! I was thinking about the first headphone that led me into this hobby and was wondering if I still owned that pair of m50s; would they still be working.

Sony MDR-V6 vs. MDR-7506. There is a difference in sound. *** Pictures too ***

Yes, well sort of.    My 7506 are a little less than a month and a half old and my v6 are a couple hours old.    Right off the bat the main difference is that the 7506 are sonically top heavy. Very bright but smooth. The bass is somewhat boomy at times but never consistent enough for me to...

Sony MDR-V6 (and family) Impressions Thread

Without burn in, I definitely hear a difference between the V6 and the 7506. The 7506 is way more analytical and some what bright while the v6 is smooth and laid back. I could have sworn that they were the same 'phones.    Anyways, I may have to request a replacement form amazon. I'm hearing a...

Sony MDR-V6 (and family) Impressions Thread

Because I love my 7506 and am curious to give the V6 a shot, I ordered a pair off of amazon yesterday morning. I should be getting them in tomorrow.    Kinda off topic, but are the V6 coming back in style or something? I noticed the amazon stock jump from 16 in stock, to back in full stock to...

New Audio Technica ATH-M50x with Removable Cable

Well I ended up buying a pair of M50x at Guitar Center in order to compare to the ones i got from Amazing Deals Online through Amazon. My conclusion is that the ones from ADO are either factory seconds or fakes.   At are glance they are identical but once you hold them and fell them, you can...

What was your first headphone purchase after coming to Head-Fi?

The original m50 straight cable version.

What is your favorite sound signature (i.e. what kind of sound are you really after?)

I like a natural to v shape signature similar to the 7506. Just a little less sharp in the treble and it's perfect.

Sony MDR-V6 (and family) Impressions Thread

Yes, at a brick and mortar Guitar Center yesterday. They matched amazon.com's price and sold them to me for $80.   They are no where near the cringe worthy brightness that was my 2011 V6's.

    ATH M50 vs. M50X, M40 vs M40X, etc

I would get the m50x over the m40x based on build quality. I demoed the m40x and the Sony 7506 at Guitar center yesterday and was sort of stunned on how cheap the m40x felt. Maybe it was just that pair but everything about them felt cheap. The m50x on the other hand, feels lush and durable. The...
