can anyone with a bottlehead crack offer a comparison with a little dot mk III or IV?

i'm interested in building a bottlehead crack, but am wondering if it will be a large enough upgrade from my little dot mk III with NOS glass (EH gold pin, russian 6Zh1P-EV). i'm using a HRT MSII DAC and the senn HD600's.   can anyone offer a comparison?     thanks!

What headphone is the HD600 just with more bottom end?

i love my HD600's but they are a bit weak on the low end. i'd like to keep the sound neutral, clear and balanced...just with a bit more authority.   i don't want darker. i don't want a V curve. just a bit more bass. i've heard the fischer FA-003 might be a candidate. any others you gents can...

    HD600 based-system missing low-end push....what is to blame?

so, i have what i'd consider a nice mid-fi system.....   imac (ALAC and AAC) --> music streamer II DAC -->little dot mk III (EH gold-pin power tubes, NOS sylvania drivers) -->HD600   and while it has wonderful mids and highs, the low end is a bit feeble. it's not that the bass isn't...

From uDac to HRT Music Streamer II: Initial Impressions

First...a caveat or two. I'm a newish head-fi member with a mid-fi system. I have no idea what a $1200 DAC sounds like and my ears definitely aren't golden. That being said, I do have good ears and enjoy a wide variety of music from rock to jazz to folk and classical which I want reproduced as...

It's time to move beyond the uDAC1, but where to go?

Gents,   I've read tons of threads and I'm more perplexed than I was before I started. I have a nice starter system with a little dot mkIII, sen HD600 and a uDAC1 to play back 320kbps AAC's and apple lossless 16/44 tracks from an apple imac over USB.   I'd like to upgrade the DAC and...

Next step up from a uDAC?

so i finally have my first decent rig together...HD600's with a little dot mkIII but now i'm looking at the uDAC and wondering what the next step up should be. is there a dramatic upgrade to be had around the $300 mark or is it subtle at best? thanks

little dot mkIII volume knob missing set screw

hello gents, so my little dot mkIII arrived and out of the box, there were 2 immediate problems. the first was a bad power cable (found and replaced). the second was a volume knob that was not attached to the pot. the set screw is simply not there. does anyone know the size and length of...

New Sennheiser HD600's: The first few hours

so, thanks to many people here at head-fi, i pulled the trigger on a new pair of sennheiser HD600's. below are a few basic thoughts for those who may be considering it... 1) i was glad to see the strength of the hinged box the phones came in. fully padded and very nice. great for storage...

the decision: little dot III or hifiman EF2

thanks to excellent suggestions from head-fi members, i'm the proud owner of a nuforce Udac and a new pair of HD600's. my music has never sounded better. now i want to add a modestly priced amp. both the LD and the EF2 are right in my financial comfort zone..but i'm not sure which way to go...

Mo' Money Mo' Problems? The Senn Dilemma

So, i think i want a pair of senns and thanks to the unbelievably crappy audio shopping in knoxville, TN i haven't found a place to audition them...so i'm going on written reviews only. EVERYONE seems to love the HD600 and it's my natural inclination. however, with that higher impedance comes...

first first big headphone purchase - been reading but could use some advice

hey everyone, i'm new to the site and have been reading lots of threads trying to educate myself about which cans might be best for me. unfortunately, it seems the more i read, the more confused and indecisive i get....so i'm hoping you folks can offer some recommendations from your...
