    Q Cable Impressions Thread

OK boys and gals, let's hear your love of all things Q. Either the search malfunctioned, or there wasn't a Q thread, so I figured let's get one going.   I started off with a headphone cable last year, and it's been consistently downhill for me. An interconnect, then another, some speaker...

Ants in my Stax: should I worry?

Nobody will blame you for laughing it off, and if this qualifies as the moronic post of the year, so be it. We live in South Florida; when rain is abundant, ants will inevitably find their way inside the house for a brief period. Yes, we have pest control service, and they've already been out...

LCD-3 Veiled Mids Production Pattern Detection

Based on the numerous veiled/great mids, soft/normal pads posts, and speculation about different QC based on production batches, I've written a small data gathering application where you can anonymously submit your serial number and presence/absence of said issues.   Once sufficient data is...

REVIEW: Resolution Audio Cantata Music Center DAC/CD Player

DISCLAIMERS/FINANCIAL INTERESTS   Unit was purchased at retail price from a dealer. Resolution Audio provided technical information for the purpose of this review, but I only used it where relevant while noting it as such.     PREFACE   I wasn’t looking for a new DAC. In fact...

REVIEW: Wyred 4 Sound DAC-2 as a Headphone Amp

I wasn't sure whether to post this under "Headphone Amps" or "Source Components", but seeing how the DAC-2 is more at home in this forum, I decided to post here. Mods feel free to move as appropriate.   This review doesn't take into consideration the actual DAC aspect of the W4S DAC-2; said...

Hardly using my iBasso D10 - any concerns about the battery?

I have an iBasso D10 portable amp which only sees the light of day once every few months. Should I be concerned about the battery losing its ability to hold charges, and if so, what's the best way to store it? I remember Li-ion batteries being better stored with 40% of charge. TIA!

Woo Audio to complement a Phonitor?

I've been using a Phonitor for quite a while, driving my HD800, and I have to say that I enjoy it very much. I am thinking of getting a tube amp to complement it, replacing my Elekit TU-882, which, nifty as it is for its price point, has some shortcomings. I was looking at the WA2 and the...

    Hifiman HM-801, or s:flo2 + D10?

Hello, I've got an HM-801 on order, along with an s:flo2. I already have the iBasso D10 which I'm using to drive my UM3X on my portable rig. I'm trying to figure out whether the sound quality of the HM-801 would be *that* much better compared to the sflo+d10. Any thoughts? Thanks in...
