For 6AS7G tube rollers here .....

I Of course, I've read his post, he was just still trying to prove graphite plate 6080 will be 100c hotter than regular plate 6080, that's obviously ridiculous, there is nothing to prove an error, he mistakenly treated a tube's max heat rating as its actual heat generated and now he wanted to...

Mordy were trying to prove Ray graphite 6080 will be 100c hotter than regular plate 6080 by using the max heat ratings from tube data sheets. You can verify that in Apr 24, 2022 at 1:22 AM Post #8,623

LOL...Tom, do you really need to jump in here just because I said you are trying to sell Crack modding services for a fee in the Crack thread?

The heat sink or thermal resistance has nothing to do with the total heat generated, which will be the same for both Ray graphite-plate 6080 and regular plate 6080, the room temperature will be raised to the same level. Mordy treated a tube's max heat rating as actual heat generated, and thinks...

Agree. Sorry for your bad experience. There are lots of fake Telefunken 6080 tubes out there, actually the ones listed out there currently are mostly fake, only a very few of them are genuine, just like the one asked...:slight_frown:. Mostly they are just rebranded GE 6080s, and some rebranded...

This one is the real deal, it's indeed a genuine Telefunken 6080. Telefunken did produce some 6080 tubes, but in very small quantity.

LG, I can't believe an educated person like you with a Dr. degree would argue something that is factual...you think I'm as gullible as some uneducated person does...I'm so disappointed in you! Okay, let's talk about thermal resistance and the law of conservation of energy! So what is the...

    Crack;Bottlehead OTL

Yeah, I suppose it would be difficult to find a tube with the signature from her majesty the queen, but the 12AU7 and 6080 NOS tubes that come with the Crack kit can easily be found $5 apiece.

    Crack;Bottlehead OTL

The war only impacts Russian new production tubes, but those new production tubes can hardly compete with NOS tubes. There are tons of NOS 6080/6AS7G/12AU7/6SN7 tubes out there, so no worries.

Max temperature only means the said tube can stand such temperature, so yeah, with stronger graphite plates Raytheon graphite plate 6080 can stand 100c more than RCA 6080 regular plates. But in actual circuits RCA regular plate 6080 and Raytheon graphite plate 6080 will consume the same amount...

    Crack;Bottlehead OTL

Normally new or NOS tubes last 5k - 10k hours under normal load, but in Crack they are lightly loaded, so they will last even longer. So there is no need to worry about tube lifetime. Furthermore, tubes used in Crack are easy to find and their supply is abundant...I mean really really abundant....

There is no need to compare temperature on two tubes with the same specs. Both 6080 and 6AS7G draw 2.5A heater current, and they also have the same plate/grid voltage/current, so they must generate the same amount of heat from a scientific perspective. If you measure some small difference, it...

Headphone Tube Amps - The hunt for all 300B TUBE AMPS

Indeed, they're bloody expensive, which prevented 300B amps from becoming popular. Why a light bulb (essentially) can be sold for such high prices, or there are just too many audiophools? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

    The Reference 6SN7 Thread

I have to copy&paste what I wrote in the Woo WA2 thread yesterday, in case some folks think ECC32 and 6SN7 are equivalent and can replace each other without problems. They are really not equivalent, replacing 6SN7 with ECC32 can possibly fry amp transformers, which can lead to casualties. On...

    Woo WA2 Tube Rolling Recommendations

Many folks mistakenly treat ECC32 the same as 6SN7, but they are really not! ECC32 draws 0.95A heater current (vs 0.6A from 6SN7), so replacing 6SN7 with ECC32 can potentially overtax the transformer which can lead to transformer failure if there is not enough redundant capacity. Also, ECC32...

It's just simply supply and demand. Most amps use 6.3v heaters, so the 6.3v version tubes are normally in much higher demand. While few amps use 12.6v or 25v heaters, so there is much less demand in the 12.6v or 25v version tubes. Same thing can be said on B65 and B63, the 6.3v B65 is way more...

Yep, 6SL7 has a very high gain of 70 (vs. 20 from 6SN7). I'm not so familiar with the pentodes that you mentioned as I'm not a pentode fan, but I wish you good luck there.

But I don't think the shape of plate makes much of a difference in tube sound, maybe a tiny bit, but the major determinant should be the materials used in plates / cathodes / grids.

This is the best method if we can't pull the broken guide pin out from above using needle nose pliers or can't push it out from below using screwdriver.
