You own a set of cans that are near perfection, so upgrading from them is going to be difficult. You may not be necessarily upgrading going to AKG, they just have a different sound signature. HD700's may not be a bad choice for you IMHO. I have a set of HD580's with 600 grills and a custom...- tgeml

I did, it's biggest flaws are not being able to upgrade the op-amp on the RCA output section and the auto off which works terrible (beyond all the QC issues above)- tgeml

Review by 'tgeml' on item 'Audinst HUD-MX1'
I purchased this DAC/Amplifier with the expectation it would perform at least to the level of the Asus Essence STx it was replacing. The unit was purchased from amazon.com, and delivered relatively quickly. Box/Manual/Packaging were all very nicely done. Now to the meat of the review, my...- tgeml

Question about building a DIY HD-580 Cable.
I tryed searching the forums, but couldn't find a good answer to my question. I wanted to ask the guru's here how they deal with connecting the braided shielding...- tgeml

What type of laptop is it? We'd need to know what type of integrated audio chipset it has, then go from there.- tgeml

store music on internal or external hard drive?
I store all my music on a 6 drive (6x500gb) RAID-5 across gigabit lan from a low end file server that cost about 600 to build, such a fantastic investment, this is what I would recommend.- tgeml

I have an older XFi Extreme music PCI card laying around, Would it make a difference with music over on board audio?
I'm pretty sure any PCI device has more noise isolation from motherboard components (Power circuitry) and should have less noise. I would think for sure.- tgeml
