I pretty much had to make the same decision as you two months ago. I listen to everything, and i have yet to listen to anything on my D2000's where i thought, "ok there weak for this kind of thing". Just let them burn in, they open up a lot.

I agree with Ninkul. I found them boring when i got the chance to try them. Clarity is all there, but no imagery.

Everyone saying they sound bad out of the box is kind of a relief. I got mine a couple of days ago and i really almost returned them for akg 702s. But i guess these really do need plenty of burn in time. Ill keep blasting the sound spectrum tests for a while and see how much they improve.

So i purchased some swan m200s from a forum member (Bixby, who was great to do deal with by the way) and i hooked up them up to the subwoofer from my logitch z-2300s (the speakers normally connect to the woofer through rca, so the swans plugged right in). I personally think it sounds great...

Dont bother wasting your money. Anything i have heard or read up on under $50 doesnt do much to the music except make it louder. I would save up the money until you can buy something in the $100 to 120 range that will really have an affect on how your music sounds.

What kind of music your listening too will also be important. From what i hear, (from people, not my own ears yet) is that the turbines sound great for hip hop and tracks with lots of drums. They also need a lot of time to "burn in"
