Schiit Asgard 3 - Impressions Thread
All-in-one would be awesome, but I need an optical input, so the module is out for me. It does seem like Asgard 3 with Schitt 4490 is a great combo though.- gdpeck

Schiit Asgard 3 - Impressions Thread
Thanks for the info. I know I could do Asgard 3 Modi multibit for the same price as Asgard 3, Modi (4490), Loki, but it just seems like having the Loki around might be more fun. Primary headphones are HD6XX and current dac/amp is dragonfly black & Corda Headfive (I keep amps I like around for a...- gdpeck

Schiit Asgard 3 - Impressions Thread
Great review! Is your Modi3 multi-bit or 4490? I'm looking to upgrade my desktop DAC / AMP setup and am strongly considering Asgard 3 / Modi3 (4490) / Loki.- gdpeck

Need New Jogging Headphones
Over-ears that are durable enough for running might be tough to find in that price range. My all time favorite running phones have been the Sennheiser MX685 earbuds. They meet all your requirements, except for over-ear. I've logged over 2000 miles running and a few thousand miles cycling with...- gdpeck

New Dragonfly Black and Red Discussion
I honestly haven't done much a/b 'ing with the DFB. I have had it since April 2016, and have mostly just enjoyed it without comparing much. My sense was that everything sounded generally better and more musical. Just now I did some quick a/b test of a couple of songs. These are both streamed in...- gdpeck

New Dragonfly Black and Red Discussion
You can actually get a little bit more granular control if you use the volume slider on the control center as shown here: I have a DFB and the built-in steps using the volume buttons are pretty big jumps. I mostly listen with pretty efficient headphones though such as NAD Viso HP 50 or...- gdpeck

Good review of a very interesting product. I know these are designed for stage musicians, but do you think they would be a good fit for non-performing situations where isolation is detrimental for situational awareness? I'm specifically thinking about suitibility for outdoor excercise, where I...- gdpeck

Bicycle-Fi!
Hi All, Just found this thread, so I thought I would share a couple of pictures of my rides: My road bike which is a 2013 Specialized Tarmac SL4 Pro. This picture was taken in January of 2015, and I haven't made any significant changes to the bike since then. This was my first nice road...- gdpeck

Watches - another passion of ours, it seems...post your pics!
Agreed. They seem grey market to me. "This is from their website: We are not, nor are we affiliated with authorized dealers of any of the timepiece manufacturers advertised." So if you choose to buy a watch from them you will likely get a better price than an authorized dealer would give, but...- gdpeck

PRESS RELEASE: Energizing sound for the ultimate sporting performance - Sennheiser unveils new SPORTS headphones at CES
These look interesting. I am a very happy MX 685 user, and have a couple of questions about the new line: 1) - Are there advances in sound quality from the 685 to the 686 models, and if so what are they? 2) - Will there be non-microphone and iphone variants across the model line? Thanks...- gdpeck

NAD Viso HP50 : Another superb headphone from Paul Barton?
I'll add to the happy people sample size here. Wow, I can't believe I've had these headphones over six months! I continue to be pleased and sometimes surprised at just how good the sound is from these. To my ears, everything about these headphones sounds just "right". Nothing is overdone, or...- gdpeck

Review: NAD Viso HP50
I've used mine on an airplane. The do a decent job of noise reduction. I used to travel with Sony MDR-V6s years ago, and from memory the HP 50s are better at reducing airplane noise. My go to noise busters are IEMs however, and my Westone 3s do a much better job than both the HP50s and the MDR-V6s.- gdpeck

NAD Viso HP50 : Another superb headphone from Paul Barton?
This just makes me happy. I'm glad when something works out like it should, and while I don't have the experience with multiple headphones that most on head-fi have, I do feel like the HP50s are something special, and I'm glad you are able to experience it as well. I've had some experience with...- gdpeck

Westone Adventure Series - New Dynamic Driver for rugged activities: Impressions and Discussion
Quote: Hi nixa, I'm extremely interested in how these do for biking. My current biking IEM of choice is audio-technica ATH-CKM500i, but it has a good deal of wind noise, and I've also started to have trouble with the inline remote, because it stops working if any sweat gets into it. I've...- gdpeck

Quote: I think the D1 pairs nicely with Audioengine speakers. I use mine with a pair of Audioengine A5s, and I feel like it makes a nice difference over running them directly from the headphone jack of my macbook pro. I believe it would do well with the Audionengine 2s as well. I have...- gdpeck

Hi Norm, I'm sorry to hear that about your DAC. I have had no problems with volume cutting out, just with a little bit of play in the knob.
