Hello all! I'm in the market for some new headphones to use while jogging.

Budget: $25-50, somewhat flexible
Source: iPhone
Requirements for isolation: Minimal; isolation is a plus, but not at the cost of sound quality
Public use: Very little, if any at all
Preferred type of headphone: Over-ear
Preferred tonal balance: Bright, clear midrange and highs
Past headphones: Nothing noteworthy
Preferred Music: Electronica, New Wave, EDM, Indie Pop, etc.
Improvements: I've been using mostly junk headphones while jogging for fear of ruining them with sweat; almost anything would be an improvement at this point. I'm looking for reasonable durability and the best sound quality in my price range.

Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions!

They are slightly out of your price range but have you looked at the Audio Technica m30x?  I've tried the m50xs and really liked them.  They seem light and durable.

I'm more familiar with IEMs for working out.  I like the Brainwavz XF-200 but those have a warmer signature than I think you are looking for.

Over-ears that are durable enough for running might be tough to find in that price range. My all time favorite running phones have been the Sennheiser MX685 earbuds. They meet all your requirements, except for over-ear. I've logged over 2000 miles running and a few thousand miles cycling with one pair I purchased in Nov 2012. They are pretty much bullet proof (I sweat bullets), and sound real nice through the midrange and highs. My musical tastes are more towards the rock side than yours, but I think these would work for the music types you listed. I've listened to some EDM on them and they were good for that. They aren't overly bassy, but have sufficient clean bass. If you are in the USA, you can grab a refurbished pair on Amazon for 15 bucks.

I'm currently trying out Bose SoundSport Wireless for running, and they are nice too, but out of your stated price range. They are more bassy, but not as clean as the Sennheiser. I love the wireless aspect though and those also don't provide isolation (if you keep the volume reasonable). I've never used over-ear headphones for running, but have used vModa XS on-ears a few times. Those are really nice, and seem durable enough to run with, but also cost $200.

As I said, the Sennheisers do not tick the over-ear box, but I've been super happy with them, and I think you would be as well. Note that these aren't the current model, and they don't have a microphone or inline volume controls. Honestly, I believe the lack of these controls, probably contributes to the longevity of the earphones.

Hope this helps!
George

If you can slightly stretch your budget a bit, the Shure SRH240A would be a nice choice--if you do in fact want over-ears. I have the M30X and I like them quite a lot. They're comfortable. If you are interested in semi-opens, the Superlux HD681 Evo is a very nice-sounding can. A few thoughts.
