CHANGING CABLES ON MY BEYER DT-531S

What´s the best way to go about changing the cable on my Beyer DT531 groovalizers. They´re getting on a bit and the lead feels a bit dodgy and I would like to fit a one-piece 6m lead. There are replacement cables on ebay but only 2.5m long. Is it easy to "crack" the ear-pieces ? Does anyone have...

    Changing cables on my DT531s-

Has anyone done this ? Any tips. ? I quite fancy using some factory made replacement cables - that way I´ll only have to solder at the drivers end. I intensely dislike trying to solder headphone jacks.

    Bombproof male/female jack arrangements ?

My 5m extension cable that I use with my Beyer DT531 cans is playing up. The female mini jack has obviously been twisted once too often and is damaged  where it enters the rubber protection sleeve thingy. I´ll probably just solder another jack on but was wondering if there is a better...

Is anyone out there using beyer Dynamic DT531 through a Heed CanAmp. Would be interested to hear your opinion ?

Spare Power amp as phones amp

I have tried using the pre out of my main Sugden A21SE amp into the Aurex power amp with my beyer DT531s and I think I rather liked it. Trouble is my amp does not have speaker switches so I can´t turn off my speakers. What would be the best way to implement a volume control for the output of the...

Spare Power amp as phones amp

I think Aurex in the States was sold as straight Toshiba. The amp was very highly considered as the best part of a very good mini system - of course, this was with speakers - I know nothing about the phones socket.

Spare Power amp as phones amp

It´s the Aurex mini system SC-M12 amp of 1981 vintage. In actual fact it´s new old stock - never been used and been sitting on a shelf for years - I came across it the other day in a warehouse. I didn´t know whether to go for it or not.

Spare Power amp as phones amp

My main amp (Sugden A21SE) does not provide a phones socket but I do have a old spare Aurex M12 power amp that does. Is there any reason why I shouldn´t use this as a phones amp connected to the pre-out of my Sugden. The power amp has switches for the speaker outlets so presumably I won´t do it...

    Classic AT phones

I shall stop putting my foot in it - this is clearly not my territory - If I decide to go for the ATs I will post my review based on gut impression as I haven´t actually used any headphones for donkey´s years. Anyway, no-one seems to have actually heard a pair of 8s for years, if at all. Thanks...

    Classic AT phones

I stand corrected regarding magnets. Thanks - just shows how wrong I am. Does this mean that this type of headphone is now old hat and I should be looking for some more conventional Sennheisers or Denons which presumably have benefitted from more modern technology and are better able to...

    Classic AT phones

Hi Wualta, I don´t wish to sound disrespectful but I cannot agree with your observation regarding digital CD bass in comparison with vinyl as heard from a good turntable/arm and cartridge - in my humble opinion, CD bass is MOSTLY crap, one note, completely lacking in expressiveness, nuances and...

    Classic AT phones

I spotted the following condenser mics: AT-853 Unidirectional, AT9450 Video Recording, AT9350 Unidirectional Shotgun, AT 857Qm Miniature Unidirectional Unipoint, AT-930 Super Directional-Omni Convertible Electret and loads of dynamics basically ATM41 of all colours and guises. The AT-8 do...

    Classic AT phones

Excuse my absolute ignorance Wualta but could you elucidate on the condenser mics ? Any model numbers in particular ? Thanks for the info on the phones - guess I´ll look elsewhere.

    Classic AT phones

I shall check if they include the transformer boxes but remember these are "as new", unopened boxes so maybe the price is reasonable. Just as a matter of interest, while having a quick look at what they´d got on the shelves, all sorts of mics amongst which I saw an " AT- Microphone Wardrobe"...
