A Comparison of the fx850 and w40 (please share your own opinions)
So not too long ago two very established names in the audiophile industry, Westone and JVC updated their previous line of iems. The Westone 4r was updated to the w40 and the jvc fx800 was updated to the jvc fx850. I've only briefly heard the w4r and haven't heard the fx800, so I won't be...- squirrelboy1210

how good are ciems?
Great thanks for the input! They would those v6's stack up against open backs? -
how good are ciems?
Could anyone compare something like jh5 or heir4ai to something like the hd650 or k702? -
how good are ciems?
I'm not using the stock but the aftermarket cable i use is by no means impressive... 30bucks -
how good are ciems?
What about ciems around 500 dollars? Are they comparable to closed phones like momentum or k555? -
how good are ciems?
I currently own a pair of se535s and whilr the luscious mid range is to die for I can't help but want for a little more treble sparkle and a larger soundstage. I was wondering if ciems around the 500 dollars mark like jh5 and 1964 v3 could deliver. Also, how do these compare to full size phones...- squirrelboy1210

drawing the line for best sound from an ipod/mp3 player
so let's see if i've got this straight (summarizing some info i've gathered) ... for ipod users, headphones won't need to go over the $300 mark, (maybe with exception of p7, but those extra 50 bucks are mostly high quality build/ design anyway) cuz those above need amps/dacs to bring out the...- squirrelboy1210

drawing the line for best sound from an ipod/mp3 player
So does this mean using a k3003 with an ipod that has 128 or 256 bitrate wouldn't be necessarily a waste? What about other summit-fi? I've read using things like hd650 with mp3 files is blasphemy, but does it really sound that bad or do the people using those just have reeeealllyy good hearing?- squirrelboy1210

could you clarify "higher end headphone?" if it seems too vague i'll take an approximation (price wise would be good)- squirrelboy1210

drawing the line for best sound from an ipod/mp3 player
Hey there headfi! i've been studying up on the forums for the past six months now on what headphones sound best straight out of a portable source. What i'm looking for is a headphone that has low impedence and will make-do with mp3 files- not anything lossless or FLAC. i'd really appreciate it...- squirrelboy1210

Do iems lack seriously behind full sized hps?- m50 vs se535
I currently own an audio technica m50 and a pair of shure se535s. However much i try to like the se535, i keep gravitating to the m50. In just about all aspects the m50 seems to outdo the se535... Obviously the soundstage and bass impact are far better, there's a lot more texture to the music...- squirrelboy1210
