If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...

I have an er2xr as well as the se version. I also have an original er4p from the early 00's. I've always heavily preferred the the neutral response of the s and se versions over the noticeably bass tilted xr/p versions. Thankfully the old er4p can be converted to the S version with an...

If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...

I have been out of the audio world for so long that I only recently learned about the Harman curve. I think that is why I do not like the balance of modern IEMs. I think the ety ER4s (and similar etys) got it right with the diffuse field with high end roll off that they use. With the Harman...

If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...

Hah. I do remember the Sony Mega Bass. I had an Aiwa walkman and minisystem and they both had a "super bass" button. While I agree there has always been an obsession with overstated bass, it wasn't really seen as desirable or recommended in audiophile circles. In the old days of headwize and...

If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...

I've been off the forum for over a decade. I've been using primarily etymotics for the last 22 years, including the original er4s. I recently went out and bought a bunch of budget IEMs. They were all insanely bassy, even the ones that were criticized for not having enough bass. I'm convinced...

Any old fart head-fi'ers still around?

Looking at Jude's join date, I'd say you were correct. I'm still in touch with some of the original forum members, but I do wonder what happened to some of the others. Anyone know what ever happened to Ai0tron?

Any old fart head-fi'ers still around?

I remember back in the old days when there were only 10 members on head-fi. I think I joined the day after Jude did. Does that make me an old fart?

    Pow Chu Moy R.I.P

I just found out that Chu passed away.  I haven't been on Head-fi for a long time, but I felt the need to log in and comment.  I can't believe there are only 21 comments about this.   Like many of the people I recognize in this thread, I was a member of Headwize even before Head-fi existed.  I...

Anybody want to post pics of their portable setup?

I can't believe someone resurrected a thread from 2001 in 2008. I guess it's only right to finally respond in 2015... mule65 - It still works. I don't use a portable amp any longer. Like the rest of the world, my portable set up is now an mp3 player and IEMs. necropimp - I'm still alive.

    Eating a turtle

Supposedly the reason the Galapagos giant tortoise went extinct was because it was so delicious, we ate it into oblivion.  I wonder if turtle has a similar taste.   http://www.theguardian.com/books/2004/jul/31/featuresreviews.guardianreview7
