    QUAD ERA-1 Thread

Finally hooked the Quads up to a proper amp (Marantz 2240B) and put them through their paces. Couple of thoughts and playlist below. I have eclectic tastes as you will see, so I really wanted to see how these would do with some of my favorite tracks from different genres. Fast, accurate...

    QUAD ERA-1 Thread

Think I solved my comfort issues. I had a leftover pad for an old set of Audeze I no longer have. A few mods and boom. Much better. These are a keeper now and I'm so glad. I would have sorely missed the sound.

Get the Brainwavz pads from Amazon. Vastly improved comfort for larger ears/heads.

    QUAD ERA-1 Thread

Anyone have tips to make these a little more comfortable? The headband puts too much pressure on my head which keeps me from enjoying them for very long. I was thinking about an extra pad, but not sure if it would help.

If I could wear them more comfortably, I would keep them. The headband puts too much pressure on my head. Any tips? I thought about one of those padded headband things, but not sure if it would improve.

Nice set of planar magnetic open back cans. Comes with 2 cables (XLR and 3.5mm) and 3 sets of pads (leather, leather/velour, and perferated leather). Wonderful open sound, fast, tight bass, and easily driven from a portable device. A better all around sound than the LCD-2. Comfortable for long...

Maybe look into some sort of penetrating oil that is safe for plastics. Sewing machine oil comes to mind. Surely there is something else out there. Hinges like all things mechanical that moves requires lubrication at some point. I've not noticed any creaking with my set. I do find the headband...

    QUAD ERA-1 Thread

Just picked up a pair of Quads from the classifieds here. Really excited to get them. I've read most of the thread and watched a few reviews, and they seem to be exactly what I am after sound wise. Anyway, now I'm looking for amp suggestions. The only thing I have right now other than my phone...

Headphones for metal music - ultimate solution

I listen to everything from raw black metal, symphonic black, experimental/psychedelic black, OSDM, prog metal, traditional hm, and everything in between. I think that the poorly recorded stuff is much better on forgiving cans like the Meze 99's.

Headphones for metal music - ultimate solution

Just bought a pair of Quads off the classifieds. Now to figure out amplification. I know they are easy to drive. I have my phone (S10+) and my Marantz 2240b at home. Any suggestions on a reasonably priced amp for these? Source will be a raspberry pi/picoreplayer server, so RCA or optical input...

Headphones for metal music - ultimate solution

I find the 99's to be excellent. A little dark sure, but the do sound great with most any type of metal. It's the primary reason I bought them several years ago (same for the Periodic Be's). I'm mainly looking for open cans for a different sound signature and some variation. They have to work...

Headphones for metal music - ultimate solution

Sounds like they would be right up my alley. As much as I like metal, if the gear doesn't pass the Rush test, it won't be around long.
