Quote: Wow that was a quick response! I actually forgot to mention I'm looking for a pair of closed circumaural headphones since these will be used as for everyday use as well. But that is definitely a pair I'll consider when I decide to buy a pair for just home use.- kineticwave

Looking for a pair of entry level headphones with good bass extension, and a balanced sound; mids are pleasant and highs aren't harsh or fatiguing. Budget of $200. Comfort and isolation are important - hopefully not tremendously heavy and the cable is detachable.- kineticwave

FLAC to AAC vs. WAV to AAC
Quote: I see, thank you for the help. Another question, if some of my music are FLACs and I listen to all my music via a pair of headphones that are moderately detailed/revealing, will there be an SQ difference?- kineticwave

Quote: Thanks for the description, should the headphones get warm, is it better if I take it off and let it rest? I've heard the bass on the DJ100s are more rumbling, is this true? I like having a slight rumble to the bass.- kineticwave

Hey there, I'm looking at the Shures as well. By what you've described, the 840s aren't analytical though, right? I would want things to sound fun, but not overwhelmingly so.- kineticwave

Looking for balance with slight bass.
Quote: Can an iPod nano drive them easily without an amp? This is such a tough decision, all of them have qualities I want. Is there any way to extend the bass of the SRH840 like the KNS 8400? How are the trebles on the Shure's by the way?- kineticwave

Looking for balance with slight bass.
I live in Canada and so the selection here at Best Buy is rather limited. At least in my city. But I'm pretty much debating the DJ200, KNS8400 or SRH840. Any ideas which one fits best without use of amp, at least in the near future?- kineticwave

If I weren't able to get an amp and my source is only an iPod nano, what would you suggest?- kineticwave

Looking for balance with slight bass.
I read about the HM5s as well, but the cans are just too large for my liking - especially since I have small ears and a small head.- kineticwave

Are there any headphones you suggest that give it a warmer sound than the KNS8400 without going over my budget? The KRKs are my first choice right now but I'm just looking for more options.- kineticwave
