Light Harmonic GEEK
So does anyone know if the higher powered versions have an incidence on noise floor and distortion? And what about the higher order harmonic distortion that was shown on the ES9018M?- khaos974

Light Harmonic GEEK
Has anyone seen the measurements for the GEEK since the switch to the ES9018M? I've seen the measurements for the GEEK Pulse, there seems to be quite a lot of high order harmonics. Do we know whether going from the normal GEEK to the Super Duper GEEK raises noisefloor and THD?- khaos974

Recording quality?
Quote: I feel your pain, Californication and Death Magnetic? BUt more seriously, for records you are asked to master (and not re-master), how often do you have wonder if the guy who mixed had an idea of sound quality?- khaos974

Recording quality?

Why are there so few headphones that can cover the full audio range well?
It wouldn't help much actually, you'd get a flat response, but with zero reverb, and mastering rooms aren't reverb free environments either,- khaos974

Anedio D2 DAC release
That's strange, if you feel that you need to push past 60 with classical, it's obvious that classical at 60 is still less loud than pop at 40. Besides, how do you think an amp is going to solve your volume issues? By getting the headphone to play louder, that's how. Incidentally, that can also...- khaos974

Old music recording remaster process ?
We are talking of two different things, you are considering the technology from the pov of the record collector and I'm considering it in a general pov.- khaos974

Old music recording remaster process ?
When comparing different technologies, it's usually more appropriate to ignore factors external to the technology itself. It's basically like claiming that SACD is a better technology because there exists better masters taht were only released on SACD.- khaos974

Old music recording remaster process ?
I was only comparing a new master tape and a newly pressed LP from that master tape andI thought that the vinyl master pressing was directly cut from the master tape after a RIAA equalisation.- khaos974

Compared to the master tape, vinyl is a very degraded source.- khaos974

What does 24/96 mean?
Quote: Another example of sampling rate and bit depth. - Screen resolution is a 2 dimensional sampling rate, horizontal and vertical, the point is that once you get past the "Apple Retina" resolution (~300 dpi), there's no visible progress any more. It's the same for audio. Peer...- khaos974
