Quote: Yeah, I would like better mids if the DT990 is somewhat lacking in that category. I've owned both open and closed headphones and honestly I don't prefer either. But...I also like a big soundstage. We'll see I guess.- jfinne16

Hey guys, would you recommend me to save up for dt990 pros over dt770s for 60 cheaper? Also, could I use my Kenwood 1080VR Receiver for the time being. It's from 1997 and was nice for its day. The problem is I can't find any information on the headphone amp. I'm guessing it's not the best thought.- jfinne16

I agree about looking at the HDs and HEs. I guess it just depends on what I decide to spend. I do love Senns but have always listened to them(cheaper models) and was thinking of trying something new.- jfinne16

Sorry ultra my quote button isn't working. That's good to hear though! It just seems the 600s are a lot more money but if its a big difference then I'm all for it- jfinne16

Sometimes my M50 bass seemed a little bloated. I just have no reference points to compare to unless its higher end speakers. I'm just worried about having no mids in the 990s now. All the headphones mentioned here have great reviews of course and I know it comes down to preference. It seems if...- jfinne16

I'm really happy you said this because after lots of reading on the 990s I came upon the T50rp threads and it made them sound like they were gods gift to the headphone world once modded correctly and I couldn't stop reading about both headphones.- jfinne16

No problems with treble. I'm not a basshead though I'm not qualified to know what lots of bass in a headphone is like. I love bass don't get me wrong but when headphones are bassy is it exaggerated and does it drown out anything? I thought my m50s could have some better lows if that means anything- jfinne16

If I can afford the 880s is it worth the price jump? Or even 990s used? I don't mind buying and letting them sit until I get an amp if it means I'm getting a good deal.- jfinne16

Yeah the price is why I considered them. The problem with these boards is the constant mixed reviews. I just saw a review where someone said the 990s were the worst headphones they've heard :( and others say the opposite. Its not cool when there's nowhere nearby to test- jfinne16

Oh man. Everything. Lately I've been into a lot of classic rock. I also like "symphony" type music such as classical or movie soundtracks. I used to listen to lots of hip hop but not so much anymore(except older Jay-Z).- jfinne16
