Starving Student PCB's
Just finished my build and WOW loving tube sound. This is my first experience of the sound of vacuum tubes and I love it. I'm using DT770s and to me they feel like they've 'opened' them up. The sound is much more like an open back headphone sound now. Brilliant, thanks Fred!- HighMasterGogo

Budget Headphone Amp Build UK
It's been a while but I'm back onto this! I've actually just finished a 12v 12au7 single tube amp from here: http://diyaudioprojects.com/Solid/12AU7-IRF510-LM317-Headamp/ But it's no where near powerful enough for my DT770 80ohm. As you turn the volume up and near an OK enough...- HighMasterGogo

Budget Headphone Amp Build UK
My build is currently on hold for the mean time. Moving house and building sheds at the mo! FUN! Can anyone tell me what issues I may have if I am building into a steel enclosure? Will I have to do certain things because of ground issues?- HighMasterGogo

REVIEW: Fischer Audio FA-011 - OFF THE DEEP END!!
My Fischers will be up for sale soon. I haven't got the funds to keep both sets of headphones and the DT770s have won; only because they are closed and isolate better so I can use them at work as well as home. I am hoping to pick up some Fischers again in the future when I am a bit more flush. I...- HighMasterGogo

REVIEW: Fischer Audio FA-011 - OFF THE DEEP END!!
Don't worry about bad headphones if you're buying through Frogbeats - I'm sure they would swap the headphones with minimal fuss. The only thing 'wrong' with my headphones was the gold plates were dirty - I'm not sure if the plates are engraved or printed but I went at it with some 'Brasso'...- HighMasterGogo

REVIEW: Fischer Audio FA-011 - OFF THE DEEP END!!
I listen to mainly electonic music (Dance, Dubstep, DnB etc.) but I do have a very eclectic mix of music that I listen to. I am by no means an expert and aside from listening briefly to a few different sets of decent headphones I have only ever owned the DT770s and now the FA-011s. ...- HighMasterGogo

REVIEW: Fischer Audio FA-011 - OFF THE DEEP END!!
Got my light wood FA-011s today. There was a bit of a mix up and the latest batch from Russia to Frogbeats had 1 pair of the older dark wood cups - typical who got sent them! David at Frogbeats was as helpful as ever and rectified the situation swiftly. After initial doubts about the FA-011s I...- HighMasterGogo

REVIEW: Fischer Audio FA-011 - OFF THE DEEP END!!
I can too vouch for Frogbeats customer service. I have been after some FA-011 since about Nov. 2011. David (the owner) has always been incredibly responsive to all my emails along the way keeping me very well informed. I think they are a relatively new company but they definitely have a...- HighMasterGogo

Budget Headphone Amp Build UK
I just followed the BOM here http://diyforums.org/SSMH/SSMHoverview.php I used that plus the variation diagram for the 12AU7 tubes. I am a not exactly an expert at electronics - the most I have ever done is a few repairs and basic kits from Maplins. I have also been following...- HighMasterGogo

Hey Rogan, I have found RS Components have pretty much all the stuff you will need bar a couple of bits that I will be getting from maplin or ebay. They are quick with despatching too - the stuff I had was all in stock and it came the next day apart from a couple of bits which I expect...- HighMasterGogo

Hey TestSubject thanks for the quick reply. From having a quick look at you thread it seems I can build a 12au7 version of the Starving Student? After googling it appears I get these for about £12 and they seem much more available. OK I think I may be able to source everything now...- HighMasterGogo
