Music City Meet - Nashville, Spring 2018, March 3

Understood, as the concern is for the hardware not the tables. Glad to help and will check in re: provisions as we get closer.

I can bring two portables with metal legs, estimated length of 6' each. Tops are high-density plastic, so we might need some insulation if the equipment gets really hot.

Regarding the above responses: Feels like I played the HP lottery once and just won... So much hardware and knowledge in one place. Will be difficult to remain calm till March.

Thanks JoeDoe, will do a little legwork/searching on those. I need options for power and DAC, as I just passed on the Dark Voice 336se buy. BTW, the 800's seemed to possess everything I'd like to change in the 650's, magically. But boy, that full retail price on the 800's says "Come back when...

As an aside, I listened to some Grado and Senns today on a Macintosh rig. First time listening to anything critically in a long time. Felt the RS-2e's had the best blend of accuracy/detail and liveliness/energy between the 325's and HD 650's. the 325's were too bright/fatigue-inducing, yet...

Operator error. I agree with the above statement. I used to see some good jazz in ATL and here several years ago. Ain't nothing like the real thing, but you can get close(r)... Haven't been to the photo clubs here, unfortunately. I'm at a really busy point right now, with almost no free time...

And I agree with the scaled expenses, but wonder how I'm getting the Schiit stack, 6xx, and renting a source (Tidal Lossless) for roughly $420. I'll reserve judgement until I hear em, but it seems like a lot of SQ for someone to walk in the door and achieve for just a few bills. Did I...

Nice. I've a background in photography, so I have moved up the tech tree from the bottom myself. Now I have little gear and less time to use it as I would like (architecture, landscape). Although we simply adjust the hobby to the circumstances, it's too bad I seem to pick the expensive...

Thank you kilkil et al. I'm excited about the rig and getting together. I'm in Metro here. It took a week of trolling here just to get back up to speed. Last I remember, I was moving towards ordering a mint kit to DIY and had a small Stax SRS 005 rig as my intro to Mid-Fi. Times have sure...

Gents, This is my first post since 2004-ish... Needless to say I've been out of the game for a comically loooooong time, but have a Shiit stack (Modi 2 Multi/Magni 3) and HD 6xx on order. I'm light on gear, but would like to attend. I'm down for food/liqueur/manual labor or whatever in...

When did you realise you had been sucked in?

In late 2003. I had enjoyed some mid-fi stereo equipment as a kid and in high school. When I lived in ATL, I became heavily interested in jazz and ran across this site as an alternative to expensive two channel speaker gear I couldn't afford. I auditioned the entire Grado line with my best...

Pics of my mega system: the 'headphone lounge'

I've been to the Islands several times over the years. If a fella had access to that much quality North Wall scuba diving AND that level of gear... I'd say plastic surgery wouldn't begin to remove the smile. Congrats on having two of my favorite areas covered!

    Jazz lover's headphone rig

I have a Stax SRM-005 rig that I use for Jazz. Primarily recordings by Coltrane, Miles, Wes Montgomery, and Bird to Gershwin and Brubeck from the '50's on. Some older stuff can be harsh under the electrostatic microscope. But as far as detail, decay, and color, even this inexpensive rig is...
