I've never refilled a liquid ink cartridge. But I have been refilling the toner cartridge on my laser printer the last couple years. It is extremely easy, costs about $10 for toner to refill the cartridge two times and I've had absolutely no problems. And laser toner cartridges cost a fortune...

Jeffreyj: Thanks for that info. The shield is there to shield from electromagnetic fields. I suspected it needed to be continuos. Maybe I'll get a longer strip and solder it together.
