Is there any current headphone that sounds like the HD 590?

*BUMP*   Actually, what do people think of the 590 in general? I know it's a pretty old (relatively) set, but wondering if it has any fans.

Is there any current headphone that sounds like the HD 590?

A long time ago I had a chance to try out a bunch of Sennheisers, and I really, really liked the HD 590s.  Alas I was working with a fixed budget and had to settle on a lesser model, which actually didn't turn out bad at all.  Now I'm wondering if there's anything out there right now that has a...

Would you consider the HD 449 to be "portable"?

Quote: Yes and no... Overall the PX100 is nice, I do like the sound.  But at the same time it's a bit "fatiguing" - when I first started using it the sound was ever so slightly harsh and my ears hurt slightly after prolonged use.  Not because of clamping force or volume levels, just the...

Would you consider the HD 449 to be "portable"?

Interesting - I have a pair of PX 100 right now that I use, and I can't turn it up because my ears are pretty sensitive, and they'd hurt if I did so.  The noise of busses and trains is already uncomfortable for me.   Comfort is quite a big factor in my choice here, IEMs and earbuds are out...

Would you consider the HD 449 to be "portable"?

I'm looking at getting a new pair of headphones and have my eye on the 449s.  They look comfy and are closed back which I'm hoping will offer a small amount of isolation.  Only thing is they do look a bit big, and I'm wondering if they're easy to carry around, or will I just end up getting...

Any suggestions for a relatively portable set of closed back headphones?  I'm looking for something I can use at home and on the bus, so having some isolation would be nice.   Some background: I currently have a pair of PX 100s, which are finally giving up the ghost.  I quite like the...

Do you guys use anything to keep the Solder Fumes out of your face?

Do you guys use anything to keep the Solder Fumes out of your face?

I took the cheap way out. Bought a set of solder fume extractor filters off eBay, and a 120mm 12V fan. I used a bit of wire through the fan mount holes to wire one filter on and power it off my bench supply. Works amazingly well, plus I can turn the voltage down when I don't need that much...

    MiniDAC - AD1955 DAC with active I/V

I agree about the double sided thing - I'm trying to keep the underside as a solid ground plane, and I've had to make some comprimises. I'm still not done with my full layout as I'm putting a PCM2707 on the same board as well and trying to head off any possible noise sources. Ideally I'd love to...

    AD1955 Mclk question

Hmmm, I missed that 256xFs bit, but even then, 256x96 kHz (which is a valid combination) still works out to 24.576 MHz. Is Analog likely to reply to a gmail account? I have another account where I've never had any luck getting any replies from companies, and I'm wondering if a gmail account...

    AD1955 Mclk question

I've been planning out a AD1955 DAC for a while now, and one thing I was toying with is adding a SRC4192 onto the board, which would lead to using an oscillator as the Mclk source. Now on page 13 of the AD1955 datasheet it lists 128xfs and 192xfs as allowable Mclk frequencies at a fs of 192 kHz...

Recommend me a power supply to build

Right, so I've finally got a schematic put together: This would be for the +ve half of a 12/15V super reg. Generally the same as what's out there except for the choice of SMD alternatives. One exception is the LM329 for which I can't find an alternative that I can purchase - the ADR5043...

Recommend me a power supply to build

Oops, I meant the D-Pak ones are more common than their T0-220 relatives. Fixed that and a PN typo for the small signal transistors.
