It's interesting you mention this. I too have noticed this on my Matrix Mini-i 3 pro recently. In my case it's intermittent so it's been hard to troubleshoot. I'll keep you posted if I find the source of it. Do you have an external amp connected by any chance? (could be a ground loop)

My apologies. I corrected my post as I had tip/sleeve indicated for both of them. Should be tip/ring for one and tip/sleeve for the other.

The Beyer cable is wired differently than the Hifiman cable. One uses tip/ring configuration and the other uses tip/sleeve on the headphone plugs. Sorry I can't remember which is which but I discovered it when making my own cables.

Try opening device settings in Roon. (Click on the volume control in the Roon app and then on the settings icon). At the bottom there is a an audio device section, there you click on Device info and it will take you to a screen where you can switch to USB. This is weird as the more common issue...

I use the RME without the EQ features and for me the killer feature is the variable loudness control. I generally listen to music at lower volumes and find the Loudness feature has greatly enhanced my listening pleasure. Also the internal amp is great for most of my headphone listening.

Thanks for your ongoing reviews. I, too, have the RME currently paired with an iFi Stream and would be interested in your thoughts comparing the RME/iFi stream combo vs the RME/Neo Stream. Any noticeable differences with the Neo as a streamer?
