Neurochrome HP-1: Ultra-High End Headphone Amp

In the manual, Tom recommends balanced connection. Differential inherently measures better than single-ended. I would play around with both to see if you have preference, but with a Gungnir and HD600, the differences are marginal. The output topology of the DAC may have an effect on sonic...

    [Review] Audio Technica Ad2000

funky 'phone fans of the world united. excellent review Keanex.   what i really like about the AD2000 is it's speed and effortless presentation, and how it emphasizes the subtle dynamic shifts and polyrhythms within a tune. i hear a better sense of musicians playing together and off one...

    Schiit Gungnir DAC

i've owned my Gung now for nearly a year. i recently had a Wyrd on loan and decided to buy one yesterday. fed via a newer Lenovo laptop with W8.1, i found my rig to be more resolving and detailed. messing around with different amps and HPs, this definitely falls under the category of "YMMV".

The AKG K7XX Massdrop First Edition Thread

Thanks! Same to you Peter. I tried removing the foam disc before switching to the K701 pads. This will give change the sonics a bit for sure. In my set up, I preferred the K701 pads. Again, I was looking for a little more attenuatation in the bass and a skosh more treble. I have K601 pads here...

the K7xx soundstage is a few rows forward compared to the K701, sounding a little more intimate.

The AKG K7XX Massdrop First Edition Thread

Yes, K701 pads on the K7XX. Didn't much care for the memory foam pads on the K701, sounding too V shaped. Preferences for one pad or another is going to come down to upstream gears. My current set up is tuned more for the K701. A leaner chain pairs better with the stock K7XX.

The AKG K7XX Massdrop First Edition Thread

side by side, the K701 is much brighter and leaner. the K7XX is too warm and bassy for my tastes. swapping the K701 pads on the K7XX makes for a pleasant listening experience, fixing the issues i have with the stock K701.

    New Schiit! Ragnarok and Yggdrasil

the chassis of a typical hIGH eND component is a significant portion the total manufacturing cost.  as someone who has taken a peek inside of a Gungnir, i'm impressed that they could design such an attractive, yet cost effective chassis.  it's simple, elegant, and even novel in my experience...

    Susy Dynahi Builders

i'm not particularly fond of building any amp that requires a large two chassis design without charging more than i'm comfortable with.  i much prefer building single chassis designs.  no doubt, it's a great sounding amp.
