Yes, the low gain improved things. Its not clipping now, but it still fells like its struggling. Instrument separation, soundstage and detail suffer badly.     Im feeding it with usb, I have dac/amp combo, so thats my source. 

Hi Guys,   I recently bought the EHP-02 from Epiphany. When listening to some tracks with a lot of dynamic range Im getting a lot of distortion (clipping?) at the load bits. I get the distortion at high volumes . but not crazy high, I could turn it up another couple of notches and still listen...

Only slightly off topic, but do you know of any sites that review new releases for their mastering. Maybe a list of "mastering critic recommended" new releases?

Got my a pair these today. I had a few cheap senns in the past and always thought they're ok but terribly boring compared to my Grados. I think because of this, and perhaps my vsonic iems,  I always associated "balanced" with boring and thought I just like coloured cans.   I could not have...

I agree to some degree, but they're focusing on the wrong problem. Its mastering not the bit rate thats the problem. Things have been improving since 2005, apparently the loudness wars peaked then and its getting quieter ever since.

Apparently the 1000 - 2000 was on the original PR. He edited it later.

   So an album will be between 120 and 240 MB. So it cant be lossless 96/24, cant it?      Looking forward to that.
