I found a second hand pair of mad dogs I was able to audition. The sound, to my ears anyway, was a bit better than the SRH750DJ. It didn't blow me away, but it was better. The comfort and construction were miles better. I bought them. :-)

I'm already using Volumio on a Raspberry Pi Model B.  So far, I have no complaints except the missing support for exfat.
