Well, I think it is safe to say anyone reading this article is an Audiophile, Audiophile wannabe or somewhere between the two. I also think that the threads on this website are a great resource for any grade of audiophile to mine for new and excellent music to discover. One of the threads I found to be interesting and very helpful is the Flawless Album Suggestion thread. What is a "Flawless Album"? Well here is the definition as laid out in post 1 of the thread
"The criteria is simple: Original albums only, no live album, no greatest hits album, no Classical album unless its original (read 20th, 21st century material that is on one of its first cds, this rule is in because somebody argued for an album with Beethoven's 5th and 6th on it and well it is flawless)"
Pretty clear. This thread is/was exact what I was looking for when I first came to the site. A quick and easy to understand listing of, potentially, all my new, next favorite music, all in one place. And that is/was true, except, the thread is now 58 pages long. There is A LOT of really great music listed here. It was going to take determination to go through it and find all of it. What I needed was a somebody crazy enough to read through all the pages and posts of the thread. Someone nuts enough to collect the names of all these Flawless Albums, put them into a list that could then be sorted, tabulated and easily searched. Funny enough, I knew just the nut job to do it.
That list is attached.
There were 1455 different albums suggested. While going through the posts I naturally came a crossed many posts that suggested previously suggested albums. There 298 different albums recommended multiple times. These duplications offer additional valuable information. One person’s garbage is another person’s GOLD, so if more than one person has recommended a particular album there might be a higher chance that there will be others who really enjoy the music as well. With that in mind I went ahead and tabulated the number of times each album was recommended.
The second attached list is those albums that had multiple recommendations, the number in ( ) is the number of times it was suggested.
There were 43 albums that were recommended (5) of more times and those albums are posted below.
There are a few obvious albums and a few that were surprises for me in this top 43 list.
I personally want to thank everyone for posting your suggestions in the Flawless Album thread. I hope that people will continue to post more and more suggestions.
I am always looking for new, exciting music to discover. I'm sure that somewhere in these lists are many of my new absolute favorite albums, and I just don't what they are yet. Hopefully that is the case for many of the people who read this as well.
