Brooko's Test Tracks

  1. Brooko
So I can keep them in one place - and refer to a list (by link) with my reviews, I've compiled a list of the test tracks I use.  Some are definitely for a set purpose (eg Amber Rubarth's Binaural "Tundra" for imaging and sound-stage), whilst others are simply tracks I know well - and use so that I can cross check headphones for a wide range of suitability across genres. Still others are there simply because they reflect my eclectic taste in music

All of the music listed I do actually own - most on CD, converted to FLAC.

Over time I'll try and keep the list updated - and also endeavour to explain why I use some of the individual tracks.

I wish that you would add a column to the table that states what aspect of the tested gear, in your opinion, a certain song is meant to test. i.e. Some songs are good for testing treble, some for bass and some for soundstage or instrument seperation.

Wow that song called "Tundra" is amazing for testing soundstage!
  4. ccalho02
Thanks for posting this list.  It jogged my memory about a few artists that I would like to add to my collection.

Angus and Julia Stones for sure! Amazing recording quality.

    Thanks!

Awesome list.  I just copied it so that I can make something similar.  You, my young sir, are a scholar and a gentleman.

    Very nice list!

Just saw this, Brooke. Would love to see your notes about which ones you use for specific reasons. You've got me thinking that it might be fun to do the same or maybe create a thread for others to share their favourite test tracks and reasons

Nice list, thank you for sharing.

Maybe it will be more efficient if you write near the songs which one is using for testing which frequencies or properties.(Sorry for my english this is not my native language)
