Do you really want a portable amp for you 650s? 650s aren't exactly the best/most portable headphone around... and a portable headphone amp for them is going to be a compromise regardless of which one you go for.

it may be a compromise, but using the HD650 with the Hornet works pretty good for me when/if I really need to... and I suppose this is the 'lesser' of these four.

SR-71 can handle the high impedance of the HD6xx with ease, it has enough headroom to kick the butt of those phones. The primary phones used to voice the SR-71A is HD600.
cheers.

Found this reply in the SR-71A thread from Ray Samuels himself, hope it helps. I never had a portable amp, but I am very intrigued.

Speaking of portable amps, I currently use a portable to power my full size headphones. However there seems to be a lot of potential lost in the process. I'd definately suggest a full size amp if you don't want to compromise on the dynamics.

If your statement had any truth to it, do you think for one minute that Justin would demo the pico at shows with the hd650s? I think not …

FWIW my hd650s sound great on the pico. I don’t use the pico for the hd650s because I prefer them for home use on the WA6, but I’ve sure tested them together

That said, I was on an extended business trip and decided to travel with them once, I used them with lap top via dac and I was happy I did, as it would have been a long hard week without them.

the senns hd650 are one of my favorite phones and i have tried them with many many portables of which ive owned and currently own including headamp pico,ae2,meier 2move,ttvj portable millet hybrid, ray samuels sr71,sr71a,predator,graham slee solo!!
and for me the winner is the ibasso d3 by a mile!!!
the dac on this thing is killer, and when used from my macbook>d3dac/amp>hd650 the ibasso d3 is such a huge value at $219 that
i cant beleave my ears this unit is so musical (not overly analytical) even though the hd650s really shine with a powerful high current amp like my headroom balanced max or my singlepower sds xlr,for portable the d3 is KING!!!

Although I haven't tried other amps you listed, I love my pico + HD650 combo. I even like pico more than my corda opera.

In terms of waiting time I waited 5 months before receiving my pico.

There is much truth to small portable amps not being able to drive HD600/HD650. I wouldn't recommend against it, always! Maybe with a Lisa III, that's a bit of a different story. Basically any amp running MUCH higher voltage than single 9V (or 2x 3.7 Lithium) will not drive inefficient power hungry headphones like HD650.

I can recommend trying the iQube together with HD650! They are almost created for eachother. The iQube fully controls the HD650 and there definitely is a fine synergy with these two in my ears.
