Sennheiser HD497 was the first headphone i got since coming here, not that anyone actually recommended it to me, but the bloke in the shop talked me into it.
My headphone rig has come on quite a way since then, and I have owned half a dozen headphones since....
went with 2 HD590s, read through like 3 threads and felt stupid for even buying the 590s in the first place, replaced one with an HD600 and gave my dad a nice present.
Now, i'm on the verge of buying a Grado, but I can't find a place to audition em.
I lurked here for about a month getting feedback on what's the best bang for the buck in headphones. After living with Grados and Sonys for years I decided comfort was what I really needed since I no longer can stand things in or touching my ears and closed cans make my ears sweat profusely. I found a good deal ($150 shipped) on new Senn 580's...they fit perfect and sound wonderful.
For an amp I want a used maxed-out Meta or wait for a PPA. Cardas cable upgrade after that. DVD-A/SACD's sound luscious out of my new Pioneer DV-563A universal player....will the madness never end? A good theme song for this forum is "While My Wallet Gently Weeps".

I'm pretty sure it was a META 42 and CHA 47 along with some mini to mini interconnects, all built by the master himself - JMT! Not a bad way to start out on head-fi.

MDR-Q55SL/B, MDR-D66SL, ATH-A500 (didn't ask anybody about these (md-t loves eggos), and I bought the Q55's because they looked good, that's all...heh, they don't fit right...anybody want 'em??
gah damn head-fi. Lesse...
v6, Sr125/cmoy, Mx500, KSC 35, Mx400.. got ATH-EM7s on their way hopefully. I keep avoiding SR325s and HD600s, but my wallet keeps trying to open by itself.
