Actually if I'm not mistaken in our conversations with Val last year it is (was?) meant it to be "MObile auDiOPHILE" - as such V-Moda's inclusion of various cables for iPhone/Android, portable cases, collapsible headphones (at least with the M-100), etc.

I agree. I do recall seeing mobile audiophile somewhere around here. However, "Modern Audiophile" is mentioned all over the place on V-MODA's website, so I think people have adopted to that instead. Modern does kind of make sense though, if you think about the fashion aspect of V-MODA.

Yep...as such I quoted "(was?)" cos I wasn't certain if it had officially been changed.

Val has already said he will sign the VTF units - but I am unsure if that has changed or not. I think he has also said that if he does sign them,he'd be signing the case, not the headphones.

It would be awesome if he signed the cases, but that seems like it would be a lot of work for him, unless he found a way to engrave it in the case, that would be awesome!

In addition to fashion, I think of the modern audiophile sound signature where bass that is well north of neutral is ideal for modern music.

So today I got a chance to hear M-80 and sound very promising but as I found out they are semi-open so you hear what's going on around you when listening to music which means they not good for outside use when riding train. So I want to know if M-100 are same or there is a way to improve isolation because otherwise they are not for me. Wish it could be clarified before they shipped so that I can cancel order if necessary

I think we'll make a separate certificate for these first production units.  Can't sign the case/headphones that'd just be a little too much IMO!

Ok, I have freed up about an hour to respond to questions and I just got done getting more answers myself.  Can somebody respond to this with a list of the most common FAQ lately?  I'll read through all the past posts eventually but I am behind and I am afraid I do not have a time to answer one by one.

Quantity
So far we have received a lot of pre-orders, so we will limit it to ~99 more!  It is pretty exciting. We have a lot of orders in Tokyo too, so we need to allocate some there after the next 99.

When?
Q: While somebody volunteers to compile this and PM me or post it here, I am sure the biggest FAQ is when

A: We are seeing a clearer best/worse case date range internally and it is coming soon, but it all depends on the sign-off on ALL reliability engineering tests.  Quality is #1 and we are finishing the testing in both real life and lab tests.  I did a lot of beta DJ testing the last few weeks and had no issues with extreme usage.

Shield Progress
We are still engraving all the shields, I think we'll always put the shield in a separate package vs install it.  I think you'll want to see the original first, and we won't want to delay the shipments.  I am going to take a group shot of all the shields in a special shot.

Cork
Pictures coming soon, it is the cover of one of the inputs

Shareplay Cable
The audio-only cable itself has a y-connector built-in.

Colors
I need to send full CMFS to the forums, again once I'm back I'll do this.  I personally love the inside of the case of Matte Black

Sound
It's passing our standards now, we have upped our "yield" to 80%.  I'll be most interested to hear feedback! It definitely "kicks with clean clarity", if I could describe it in words.

Manual
This is taking a long time to write, I wish we did not have to include it and I'm thinking of ways around this in the future.  I mean, if they own a M-100 they definitely have internet, right?  Sigh...

M-100 has better isolation than M-80 by virtue of it being over-ear, primarily. And secondarily it will have a bit higher dB in frequencies that cancel noise naturally.

Why dont you extend some time the manuals, until they hit retail stores?

Could you elaborate? I own Audio Technica ATH-M50's, and I need something that isolates at least that well - are the M-100's it? I plan to give them a chance anyway, but it would be great to know.

You should have the M-50's, considering you do a lot of comparisons right? Could you let us know? They seem to be a good point of comparison, since they're so common on head-fi.

It's great to hear that quality is #1. I definitely don't mind waiting extra in order for headphones to pass quality control tests.

Relating to colours, photos of the stock M-100's is a FAQ (e.g. what matte black looks like, does shadow have the red inner headband, etc.).

What colour cables will the M-100's get? Matte black with orange cable? White/silver with orange cable (like in the Twitter photo)?

What exactly comes with the VTF-100 is also a FAQ (extra accessories-wise).

That's also great to hear. Sound isolation was another one of the FAQ's.
