Allright man...
You had the balls to dismiss 650?
I hope you love Pro 900 just to ease the loss...
I liked my HD650 but they got kinda boring... Sorry to say it, many will probably disagree with me. They're good all-rounders but while I listen to a lot of different music, my primary tastes are rock/metal and electro/trance. The Pro 900 should be just what the doctor ordered. I actually started my Head-Fi journey with a pair of HFI680:
(That's my son, not me
)
Then I
recabled my friends HFI780 and before returning them to him yesterday morning, I took a quick listen... An hour later, the decision was made and my HD650's went up for sale. Mind you, I went through a lot of auditioning before finally settling for the HD650:
But when I heard the HFI780 I immediately remembered how much I loved the sound of those 680's that I only sold because of their total lack of comfort, especially on the top of my head where they push down on my skull. When I read that the Pro 900 was sonically far better than the HFI series AND more comfortable, the HD650's fate was sealed.

These stand out with technical strengths but disappoint just as much with their weaknesses.
After a long day at work, treble is simply fatiguing. The pronounced upper midrange causes a metallic aftertaste.
But bass punch, resolution and instrument separation are simply incredible. I would have kept the HD650 instead of getting two PRO 900.
I think I will have to get the Z1000 soon. I need the Sony for extra hours, haha.
Silly you - I ordered two sets of Pro900 because a friend wanted a set too. We found them in the UK 30% below the Danish price. I don't worry too much about selling the HD650, I got the same for them as I originally paid and if I end up missing them too much, I'll buy another set. It's not like they're the rarest cans in existance. My everyday workhorse are the marvelous Westone 3 IEMs that when combined with my Cowon J3 loaded with 1700 FLAC tracks keeps me sane at the office. My full size "home" cans are less indispensable than my IEMs. If the W3 broke I'd buy another pair instantly, but I can go for a few days or even a week without my home rig.
I'll be feeding the Pro 900 from my Yolong D100, a stunningly great DAC with a totally decent built-in headamp.
Btw, if you're a basshead metal fan, reading this thread while waiting for your Pro 900s to show up is a stupid thing to do. It's like watching The Food Network when you're starving and the fridge is empty.
All Pro 900 owners reading this: Go put on "Take The Power Back" by Rage Against The Machine. The slam from the drums opening that track is just out of this world on Ultrasone cans. Then dig up "Chameleon" by Danish Trance artist Trentemøller and hold on to your hats...
CANT. FREAKING. WAIT.
WANT PRO 900 NOW!
