I'm going to be selling my 900s with XB1000 pads and Blue Dragon cable. If anyone is interested PM me, I'm asking $450. I'm posting it in the classifieds soon but I figured I'd give the viewers of this thread first dibs.

Heya,

What's your next target headphone? D2000? LCD2?

Very best,

I may get some Darth Beyers later down the road, but that's about it.

Heya,

Nice.

You may laugh, but seriously, try these things out. It's trivial for cost. But the bass is just so stupid. Makes me wonder what modding could do with them too, if you're interested in that sort of thing.

Very best,

My 2900s are HERE!! Very premature impressions (out of a Zune only (I'm on vacation lol): These pads seem quite a bit thinner than the Pro 900 pads were. They are definitely softer too-they remind me of the silver 900 pads. With a MASSIVE grain of salt after 5 minutes of listening-I already like them more than I ever did the 900s. The mids are only mildly recessed, and vocals come out clear as day. Bass is positively excellent-but we knew that already. Airiness is there-that's the biggest complaint I had of the 900s, and they don't seem quite as metallic sounding.

Obviously I need much more headtime with them, but that won't really happen on proper equipment for probably another week! Stay tuned...

the pro 2900 is harder to drive than 900 and is more transparent to your source and amp so it really sound much better from a better source/amp.. lately after i've done several damping mod and recable it with black dragon "split mod".. IMO that there's no headphone that substantially better for $500~ until you climb up to lcd 2 price range.. even the stock version is also very good and quiet versatile, competing very hard with the senn hd650..

hope you enjoy the pro 2900..

I can think of one headphone that should give these top-of-the-line Pro headphones a run for their money: Hifiman HE-4 ($450). I don't own either 900/2900, but I have the 2500 which is one tier down. I recently acquired the HE-4 and it pretty much obliterates my 'Sones. I would be very surprised if the Pro 2900 can best this beast of a can!

Isn't HE-4 one of the brightest sounding cans out there?

Aren't Ultrasones? But yea, I have to say the HE-4 is quite bright and sharp.

Yeah they are bright but from what i've heard HE-4 is brighter and suits more for rock/metal..
That means that you definitely need a warmish amp to be paired with it..
Unless you are not so sensitive to ear piercing highs..

I would say that I'm not too sensitive to it. But I can see how some could complain.

Either way, it's an amazing headphone at it's price range. I would love to get my hands on a Pro 2900 to do a comparison, because I'm still an Ultrasone owner and fan myself.

I just decided to also get the 2900. I'm not sure if I'll also keep the 900 but I don't have to decide yet.
I've been searching for an open headphone for very long now and the only can that impressed me was the T1.
The warm HD650 isn't for me, the DT880 either, the DT990 sucked balls and the k701 does not match well with my music.

I'd love to get the T1, but right now it seems like a bad purchase. For the money I rather get the PRO 2900 and an iPad or an escort lady for two nights. :p

Now that is a tough decision...
But I would go for the lady...
Pro 2900 can wait...

Headphone endorphin release.

If you're spending what it costs to get PRO900 and PRO2900, I would suggest you get the LCD-2. Otherwise, that's your next headphone anyways and you could save spending twice as much.

Very best,

I'm thinking about maybe selling the PRO 900 if I dig the 2900. I'd invest the money in an IEM. Or the Z1000. Or I keep the 900. Oh god, too many headphones I want!!

However, S-Logic just makes me feel well, especially since I have tinnitus. I can tell that the 'Sones are really more comfortable to my ears. So it's either 2900 or T1 (which has the same effect). I liked the T1, but I'd say I'd like the 900 almost as much. Soundstage is much smaller, bass too strong and highs too harsh in comparison. But comfort, resolution, attack are on par.
I don't have SACD and I sold my vinyl player. I purchase all my music on iTunes so I think the "high-end" is overkill for me now. When I'm 40 I can think about that. Right now I listen to more than Jazz and Classical so I think mid-Fi will suffice.

The LCD-2 looks crap, btw. So I'm not interested at all - not by the current import prices.
