I'm not sure if this has been reported before. Apologies if it has.
I picked up a Bryston BHA-1 and I spent the weekend glued to it with the T1. This is especially when I run the T1 in balanced mode. The liquid mids of the T1 never sounded so good and the entire soundstage just opens up, while retaining the characteristic smoothness and refinement.
It very much took my breathe away.
My T1 is modded to be balance-ready with mini-XLR connectors. And I have the stock cable in either SE, 4 pins balanced and dual 3 pin balanced.
The T1 is quite stunning with the Bryston BHA-1!

culled a pair of foamrings from the rippedpads of a dead portable can (Monster Ntune)...
and decided to stuff it into the T1...
what i am hearing..
more body to the bass, mids more forward, less bright in the treble.
u might like this mod for more relaxing, light listening whilst reading.
( your son's used BEATs pads might work..the smallest one..cant remember which model is that..the earliest )

Biggest mods the T1 needs is a lighter more flexible cable.

Quite interesting how different perception can be: I like them for their relaxed, non-fatiguing presentation (without modifications)...

Sometime down the road I'll probably be sending mine off for the mini-XLR re-termination on the cups and replace the cable. Thinking I'll probably go with Moon Audio.

Moon Audio does a great job. I had mine done by them. I think it was $120.

Great to hear. I won't need to do it for a while, since I want to spend a decent amount of time with the stock headphone before having any changes made. Probably some time in summer.

I am most likely direct soldering in a Skoll cable. $100+ for some mini XLR is about what the cable cost and I can't think of any reason I would ever want to disconnect the wires. Will sell the stock cable to recoup some of the cost.

Hi folks, I think I recall a few T1 owners having also discussed TH900s so I'm wondering what specific characteristics lead you to choose one over the other (other than open vs closed)

I would be interested in responses to this question as well, simply out of curiosity.
I have the TH900 and T1 and I had originally planned on selling one of them. However, I decided to keep them both.
P.S. I need to say "thank you" to you Loquah, for your thread on the Bottlehead amps. I ended up getting a Crack based solely on your write up and I am very happy with it.

Glad to hear and happy to help!!
What was your reason for keeping both headphones? What do they each give that you couldn't live without?

I would like to terminate my T1's with a balanced xlr 4 pin connector. I understand that there are 3 wires per side + - and ground. I would like to know if anyone here has done this themself and could advise if you can just pair the two ground wires together and solder them to the connector chassis? Anyone who has done this please share your experience. Yes. I will be using the original cable and just removing the 1/4 connector and replacing it with the 4 pin xlr.

Why don't you should start the ball rolling since you already have both. What are the difference between the 2? If you have to choose 1 which weadphone would it be and why.
I'm also looking to get a planar-magnetic type headphone not necessarily to replace my T1 but rather complement it. So far I have my sights on Alpha Dogs and LCD-X, but a comparison of T1 with other phones is always welcome.
