By the way Fiio X5 is confirmed of having 7 op amps!, four OPA1612 as Amp and LPF, two LMH6643 as Buffers, and one other, and 12v of voltage swing. I personally really like these choices and am certain to purchase it now. Get ready, I can tell you the X5 is going to have a very enjoyable sound, these op amps coupled with the PCM1792 DAC will be very detailed, balanced, smooth yet energetic (hard to conceive, yes) and I have a feeling there will be some who prefer the X5 to even the hm901 and dx100. I'm pretty excited about it. Have to wait till march though :frowning2:

lets wait and see, some people were similarly excited about x3 which happened to be good DAP but no near what some expected. so lets see what comes out first. as a matter of fact i ordered dx50 but i will be more than happy if x5 beats hm901 or similar high end DAPs.

I'd bet that's exactly what they did! Bugs arise from inefficient coding, eg, excessively long command chains. so they probably deleted or merged a lot of code and reworked it to be simpler and more efficient.

I compared with a hex editor, the firmware versions. There are still ethernet data, Phone Numbers and more to a DAP no matching entries in it. These are significantly reduced in the firmware 1.2.2.

I suspect that the firmware was compiled from a modular system which is designed for mobile phones.

The DX50 is based on Android 4.1

I've nowhere seen correctly if it has a fully functional directory playback view.
I would like to ask if it has one, and if it works well? (I mean, once you step in a directory and play a song, will it go on to the next track, set the directory as a "playlist"?) Cause all I can see is this artist-album-songs playback which I don't really care for (never used/hated it).

Absolutely. I don't use the database. I browse by "Directory" which is a folder and file view. When you get into a folder with songs, it will play them from where you select to the end of the folder.

The DX50 is based on Android 4.1

Androit but is an operating system for mobile devices based on linux. Androit is open source and can be selecting from a choice. the kernel is modular so are eg. network capability deselected.

the code is thus in principle of all unnecessary ballast to free. Only the functions of the operation of the player is required.
