I can't believe the heat issue going on here.

It's a dac /amp/dap rolled in one so what are you expecting

You forgot Dual Core 700MHz SoC, 12 hour battery capable of powering some large cans, small size and that the back is metal.

215mW @32 ohms is also a nice thing to add

Actually, SOC is not a dual core as we find from Smartphones.
It's a combination of 1 CPU and 1 GPU/VPU, similar to what iRiver's AK100/120 is being powered by.

"Welcome to Head-Fi! Sorry about your wallet"

I stand corrected, thank you very much. Single core 600MHz then with a useless almost everything else as the other half of the chip looks to deal with TV/Video decoding and acceleration.

Are we sure the Ingenic JZ4760 is the SOC used the X3?  And if so, would that be good news or bad news for possible Rockbox development?

We? Not really, nobody of course popped open their X3 to check yet

BUT. considering that the head honcho James himself said it. I doubt he would lie to us

Dont know what the big deal is with some people regarding the player getting warm/hot, its not hot to burn anybody, and it was always going get warm anyway cause of power output, i think Fiio got the ratio just about right when designing it, ie, battery life, screen size, resolution, power output, sound quality, size, slight warmth when playing , ect. If you change anything for the better something has to suffer. If away back when we were all giving feedback about helping designing the Fiio X3 why did no one mention any heat issues , so why mention them now when its not a big deal, and if Fiio did mention that there might be a slight warmth to the player when in use when it comes out would it stop you buying it???????? dont think sooo
