not, I will share with you the newest information. now the big problem is

not matter what we do, or it looks like a iPod, or a Sansa, or a SONY, or maybe iaudio, iriver style. anyway, I think we will stick with scroll wheel and hardware bottoms around it . the same as X5 but looks different.

I have try a lots in X5 and feel it is the best solution even better than iPod Classic.

Yeah Sure James.......I just wrote that, with the dimensions spec revealed in the first page of this thread, it looked like it's as close as X1-A's H x W. So I expressed my view that you also preferring X1-A,likely/almost........

I'm totally with you, just lie others, as far as the X1 is concerned....all I need is a entry level budget DAP from FiiO! :D

btw, not sure if this query is raised, will the X1 amp's performance be expected as E11 or E12 ? or will be just new breed as X5?

First post says it will be around 100 mW @32ohms, so E11 or E12 would be an upgrade.

From official site (all mW @32ohms load):

E6 -- 100
E11 -- 180
E7K / E17 -- 220
X3 -- 270
E18 -- 300
E12 -- 880

I like the no memory choice to reduce cost. Don't include a USB cable, go for a nice dac, any screen... The cheapest... We're not going to watch videos on the screen. One similar to the one on the fuze would suffice.

GREAT!!!!
This looks much more up my street than the X5.
I too don't need many of the bells and whistles some want from their DAP's
On a device this small I don't even need a LO! ( OK, maybe that's taking things too far, a LO is very useful )
A single, full sized SD slot is the only thing I'd like to add.
I'm also a total convert to touch-screen control, but I respect Fiio's decision to go with the scroll wheel, and it's certainly not a deal breaker for me

I voted 'A', but 'B' is almost as good.

I know I complained that the X5 is too large for me, but is the X1 going to be able to fit decent battery life/SQ in to such a small (and cheap!) form factor? I certainly hope so as it looks like the right size for me.

Built in memory is of no interest to me either, external is all I need.

SUBBED!!

+1! We want good DAC!!!!!! And less buggy than other DAP in the market. :D

I vote x5 type ui, line out and a good DAC chip. Battery life is next important.
Output power does not worry me as something so small will barely add to the size of my amp anyway :)
I will search this thread but if anyone is just browsing through, what is the eta on thus little fella?

yes, X1 will use the same UE/UI as X5, that is why X1 has almost the same layout of bottoms and scroll wheel as X5. and it may become FiiO style in the future.

I've been waiting for a smaller DAP to pair with my e12. The x3 and x5 are great and all but because they are designed to be all-in-one devices they add unnecessary bulk if you want to pair them with an amp.

I just hope sound quality is a top priority. All the other concessions of the device are fine but I really would like it to be close to par with the x5 SQ wise (when using the line out). If so it will be a must buy.
