I'm not sure that the iPhone 5S is really worth it. The only things that would make a difference for me would be the faster processor and graphics, and the fingerprint reader. I very rarely use the camera on my phone so that doesn't matter.

For me it's not even the graphics, these days I use phone for email, calls and maybe some emergency internet browsing.  I do use the camera pretty often, for work, photographing buildings, site visits etc.  No chance I'm going to buy the 5S though, I have better things to spend money on.

iPhone XS is usually just "expected" incremental upgrades that don't have too much attractive changes anyways. That's how it's been, and I don't think it will change anytime sooner.

On the other hand, I think I'm going to jump ship to Sony once my 808 PV reaches 2 years old.

I can't see buying a 5S unless your contract happens to be up and you simply need a phone. Personally, I'm done with Apple phones until they recognize that a good portion of the world has hands larger than you'd find on a typical 5th grader. I eagerly await the Nexus 5.
