The Astell & Kern AK240

Be the Ultimate Gaga

Weird shape aside, It seems bulky and will probably look protruding from jeans or the inner pocket of suits. People who really care about portability now face another HM901 dilemma.

This is the 2.5-mm balanced connector

http://www.lunashops.com/goods.php?id=3572

Make a cable with that 2.5-mm connector first, then use this adapter for something like MA8/MA9/HM-801/HM-802/HM-901 with balanced amp cards

http://www.lunashops.com/goods.php?id=2997

They only mentioned Balanced Out (2.5mm, only 4-pole supported) but not sure if that were line-out and/or headphone output yet

Thanks for the info

I suspect it is phone out not line out. AK never release line out, they are very proud of their amp section

So basically it's a RWAK-120B with an amp and more storage. The RWAK-120B costs just under $2k and a popular amp that is used with it is the SR-71B which is $650. So it's cheaper and can hold more although I doubt the amp section is as good as the SR-71B and you get dual Cirrus DAC's instead of the Wolfson.

Shame you have to spend over twice as much to get everything compared to the other flagships of Sony, iBasso, Hifiman, and Calyx.

Though it may not be pocketable, I love the design - it seems that they went for aesthetics over utility (I haven't held one in my hand, so maybe I'm wrong), which will not suit everybody, but it looks pretty hot to me. It does look expensive as hell, for better or worse. I don't mind the price. Can I afford it? No, but it doesn't bother me at all. Some toys are more expensive than others.

It kind of reminds me of the Lamborghini Aventador...
