Just got the AK120 Titan delivered, cant say no to a bargain £589 ,2 years warranty and free delivery from
http://homeavdirect.co.uk/astell-kern-ak120-the-ultimate-portable-hifi-with-mqs

although got some selling to do to pay for it,it will rotate duties with my AK100ii which I got for exactly the same price, cant say which sounds better so far,but listening to the same Hires tracks that come with the players the 100ii seems to have slightly more power.
The Titan comes with version 1.40,is this the latest and last update?

is it really worth to get A1 for ak120? is it better than ak120ii?
thanks :)

I will be able to compare an Ak100 in a Gloveaudio a1 with an ak120 of a friend next week.

Will share impressions.

Cheers,
K

Trade my AK120  with AK100 II, very happy with the result...the sound is more thick  and  lot more improvement on   transparencies and the details although in term of imaging AK120 is more "neat" a little bit

Im not very sussed up with tagging and only use music tag editor for mac when i needed to install artwork for downloads, this all worked fine for my x3 but since getting the ak100ii and ak120 titan I am getting albulms which are coming up as unknown and with the the Titan artwork wont even show even if it is less than 300x300,any help on tagging would be appreciated.

Having now heard all iterations of the AK's I prefer the 120/Glove to all the others.
The sound is more like the 240 in terms of sophistication I think, perhaps missing the last ounce of detail the 240 gives but the trade off is I personally feel the 120/glove has a touch more texture and feels a bit more relaxed and organic than the 240. both traits I would take over absolute detail retrieval any day is to my ears it translates to a more natural and easy presentation of the music.

120/ glove compared to the 120/100 mk2's no contest as far as I am concerned, the 120/glove is by a good margin superior in sound quality over both the new models.

In truth having heard the lot now even if I did not own the first gen 120 I would source one of the last new ones and get a glove over the 240 as I simply have no interest in streaming music wirelessly or any other of the extra non sonic features it uses. I would rather use the money saved in getting more music!

The S-mod gives you the best of both worlds. You have that ubber detail and that natural sound combined. I could imagine it combined with that amp of yours (sublime .

If you are going down the Gloveaudio route (I am and my should arrive in 4 days), wouldn't it be even smarter to buy an AK100 mk1 or the new AK100 mk2 Japanese limited edition for below $500 and the Gloveaudio A1 since the player does only provide digital/optical out? Even more money saved for amazing soundquality.

Once I have the Gloveaudio, I will post my impressions between ak100 mk1 & glove vs AK100 Mk2 and a friends AK120.

Cheers,
K

Hello, I had exactly the same problem with the ak120. I had to tag the front cover again to the albums with Kid3 which worked pretty well. Hope it helps for you as well.

cheers but still no joy all my music looks ok and shows art on my AK100II,but the same stuff just shows up in the folder of the 120 with artist unknown showing and no album art(similar to a wav file),all tagging looks fine, are there any hidden files that could be causing this problem or is the 120 just very poor at recognising certain tagging?
