You can think of the Roxanne as a supercharged version of the W4R, with slightly less warm sound but much cleaner and almost complete instrument separation due to FreqPhase.  Both the W4R and Roxanne were based on a 3 way crossover network, but the W4R has a 2-1-1 BA setup, vs. a 4-4-4 BA setup with the Roxanne.

I have a 240 and I have tons of great Blue Note Cd's that I myself have loaded on to my 240....I would never pay such a premium to buy 75 Blue note recordings!.......

Have you gotten a chance to listen to the Noble Kaiser 10 yet. If you have. how would you describe the sound signature vs the JH Universal Roxanne

Yeah DSD music just sounds out of this world and isn't this the reason why we purchased the AK240?

I've been reading up on the AK240 for a couple of hours.  I have SE846's, an ALO Continental V3 (and RSA Predator), and sources are an AK100 (which I never use, even the hi-res recordings sound bland to my ears), an iPod 5G, and iPad mini (digital out via CK/AQ Dragonfly).  If I look on Acoustic Sounds and see only 2 DSD downloads I would want to buy, I am coming to the conclusion that the AK240 would mostly be an upgrade in convenience (a one-box device) rather than a breakthrough improvement in SQ from what I have already (at least as far as $2,500 goes). Curious if others that went from a similar setup to mine to the AK240 route would disagree?  As far as the 2 DSD downloads that are the type of music I listen to they are the Band of Horses and REM albums.

I went from arguably one of the best sounding possible, Rwak120b intruder stack to an ak100ii->ak120ii->AK240

Soon to be rwak240. Sound wise, very similar, but rwak was an improvement. Big advantage, and to me it's huge, was the one device and the UI. I have no regrets from my upgrade, I'm much happier. You could even argue that without abing, you won't hear a difference. Bottom line, best choice I've made.

Thanks for sharing your perspective, nice setup you have and helpful to know you found the AK240 worthwhile upgrade with the 846's.  It's always easier to spend that kind of money for dramatic SQ improvements than for usability and convenience, but in this case maybe having an upgrade of all 3 in varying levels is synergistic to the overall listening experience and wins the day.

I just updated to 1.17 and noticed there is a new EQ preset named AKT5P. Is this supposed to be a reference to the Beyer headphones or is the name referencing something else?
