SpinFit Eartips Thread - The cheapest audio upgrade
Mar 11, 2016 at 5:00 AM Post #556 of 1,133
I used Auvios for a while and they were my go to for my IE80s. The Spinfits blow them out of the water. The SDs give good isolation and possibly a better bass but are more prone to sibilance thought I've only tested them out with my small range of iems which include the IE80s and the wonderful Flare R2As. The Spinfits are in a class of their own in most circumstances.

Any idea how they compare with triple flangle tips on Etymotics? They supposedly provide 40 db isolation and I used them in very very heavy traffic-ridden Indian roads for almost 2 yrs and always happy. How about spiral-dots? How close are they compared to Spinfits in Isolation? And in comfort? Any idea about Auvios or Sony hybrids?

I cannot speak to the Auvios, but I do have experience with all of your other tips. I would anecdotally rate them SpinFit > Etymotics > Sony > JVC in terms of isolation provided; however, almost all of my IEMs have a ported design-- which may or may not affect my impressions relative to a design that is fully closed.

I also found the SpinFits to be the most comfortable, but only because I've become quite used to the super deep insertion afforded buy the design. Tickle your brain for best isolation

Thanks for the detailed response! :) Spinfits are on to-buy list. What is the cheapest that anyone can expect to pay? I see they are available for about 10$. Does that size suit Puro IEM 500?

Yeah, $10/pair in any size or combination thereof from @Dopaminer is the best deal and availability worldwide, IMO.

Unsure about the fit on that model, but between the different sizes of the SpinFits and various mods such as spacers, trimming, etc I'm confident they'll work for you-- just clarify prior to purchase, of course. =)

Best of luck-- SpinFits are what saved generic IEMs for me, so my hope is they help you too^^

Amazon uk have the small and super small in stock for £6.99 and £7.99 if you don't want to wait.

Unfortunately, no large ones, so it's another couple of weeks wait then, providing RM don't lose those as well.

I wonder why these aren't on sale in the UK, surely there is enough of a demand and the same with the JVC Spiral Dots?

No I noticed that and no medium either.  I was hoping to go for medium and small, but decided on small and super small.  SS is fine for right ear, but small is just a fraction too small to get a good seal.

I'd say you'd be fine with Mediums. They are very slightly larger than the Sony Hybrids, but their yeilding nature makes them comparable. For reference, there is a pictographic comparison earlier in the thread.

He's an awesome dude residing in Japan who is gracious enough to fulfill requests for imports/trades/etc, and he is also a 'member of the trade' according to the forums, but I'm not exactly sure what his primary focus is...
