new drivers, I think age of those would still be 20yrs ?

Not at all, the new driver is just basically that as long as it has been well kept in a climate controlled area and has very little hour on it.  The driver no. 4 actually was released in the early 2002 so it is definitely much less than 20 years old.  Driver No. 1, 2, and 3 were released between 1989 to 1999 I believe and No. 4 came out to supersede older drivers as supplied likely ran out.  Here is the information about driver number 4 and a revised service manual:

Isn't that easy to get a full refund if we made a payment in eBay but ended nothing received ?

Yes, Ebay plus PayPal is a very safe combination for the buyer when dealing with fishy looking auctions. I have won many auctions through the years that looked questionable, some turned out legit, some did not, and every one illegitimate auction was refunded in full within a couple of weeks with little hassle. That being said, I personally would feel pretty uncomfortable having nearly $10,000 tied up in a PayPal dispute. Past performance is not an indicator of future success etc.

In the end I guess it really just comes down to your own intestinal fortitude.

Yes. I don't think there is too much trouble if it is legit or not. So I am more willing to know if it is overpriced...

Hello all,

Has anyone here had the opportunity to compare the MDR-R10 with the new Pioneer SE Master 1 in terms of sonic characteristics.

I'm just curious being an owner of the Pioneer SEM1.

I know Pioneer used ceramic drivers as opposed to Sony's bio-cellulose drivers.

Thanks for any information.

I tried a lot of amps with my bass heavy R10 recently. Grace design M9xx. Eddie Current 2a3 MKIV. Woo Audio WA5 maxed(2016 version). Audio-GD Master 11. Fostex HP A8.
They were all hooked with different source but I can confirm those are quality sources. But to my disappointed is the best amp I prefer is the Grace design M9xx. To be honest, I found the PO from macbook air directly could be ranked #2 among all those amps. I am going to check with Balancing Act and Micro ZOTL 2.0 tomorrow. Good luck with me.
I hope my next opinion is not too offensive to this community. My R10 is terminated to dual 3pin XLR by last owner. I simply don't like it. But the work looks like done by some quality guys. I am interested in swapping with your guys' R10(bass light/heavy both OK) If you have an R10 with original cable and similar condition with me.
Anyhow these are just my personal grain of salt. I like something original and simple.

Just thought such kind of words " it simply sounds bad " looks like sort of nonsense to some one. I am going to explain my **** post in detail.

The problem when my R10 hooks to some big amps are the speed, transparency and detail. I found my R10 becomes slow, muddy, veiled and not that refined with these "big amp", which might be good to some other people since it sounds somewhat smoother. I play piano and violin myself. The string from violin is tight and the detail is breathtaking with the PO from my Mac book air while the sting is loosen and relaxed with other "big amp". It is quite obvious to me. It simply not right to me. There must be something wrong with the transient response when my R10 hooks to some "big amp".
