Shure SE535: Reviews and First Impressions Thread

Has anyone used Shure for Astell and Kern?
On their site they recomened the se425 with the ak120, then a video recommed the se535.
But the klipsch x7i has higher Ohms,
Would the se425 be good?

Thank you

I think AK120 is an overkill for IEM's of this price range. Better off getting SE846 and a cheaper DAP like FiiO X3ii.

Ok, well first I'm going to use possibly the 425 with my amp and dac by Schiit Audio, then I'm looking at getting the Astell and Kern, I like the se846 but at $1k, right now its too much, I'm also looking at the klipsch x7i, it has higher ohms then the shure

The best advice i can give to anyone with se535 after owning them for almost 3 years  is to buy westone star tips and some brown, white dampers from knowles and a good mid tier player like sony a10 and you're set.You can have some small improvements by adding an expensive silver cable but at that point you're entering dangerously in the diminishing returns area.Better save that money for the next tier of iems.

The se535 despite it's shortcomings still has some of the most engaging, lush mids i heard and it's perfect for acoustic and jazz but imo there are other iems that surpass it in its category.

Ok, so the se425 wouldn't be good? Right now with cost I'm looking at around $300 for either the se425 or $200 klipsch x7i, but $350 for the x11i, I'm wanting to get great IEMs now for when I get the Astell and kern (but I'll use it now with my amp/dac and ipod)

Btw,why buy such an expensive player,if you haven't already, and then buy something like se425?Most users here will tell you that first you buy a good iem and then you built your system around that(dap, amp, cables e.t.c).

The Ak players make sense for those who spent $1000+ on iems not  $200.You will have much better results  if you save the money from ak120 and buy something like cayin n6 and pair it with sennheiser ie800,the best value totl iem imo.

Ok, well I've found the se846 and the ie800 as the top exspensive ones i like,
But then the klipsch x7i and x11i are 2 that I think I see getting first and match up to specs and ohms that are good for the ak120

Are the se425 earphones worth it?

The SE425 are really good ...

Shure accidentally sent me a pair as a warranty replacement for a SE535 that I had to send back and so I got to use them for a few days while I waited for them to correct their error ...

Not quite as detailed as the SE535 and not quite as good of instrument separation but still *very* close.

The 425 is a great IEM for the money if you can find a used set ...

Ok, hmm, I don't really like getting things used (not sounding snoody haha) Ive also looked at the x11i and they seem to have higher specs then the se425, but the se425 were mentioned in a ak120 video
