Picked up a DT770 circa 1981 on fleabay the other day in absolutely beautiful condition. Drivers are 573.2 and 574.9 ohms respectively; Beyer QC was pretty good even back then! I had to do a couple mods to it (felt instead of foam in front of the driver, using angled HM5 pads and paxmate on the back of the driver) to tame the treble and bring up the sub-bass a bit but overall I'm pleased with how it sounds. Anyone know what the two diodes on the drivers are for, though?

So, do you think these are staying?

Nice pictures! The W10VTG is simply gorgeous!
I've been looking for a good condition pair for a couple years but no luck yet. How is the sound on these? I've never actually tried a pair.

Easily the weirdest sounding headphones I've ever heard while still sounding enjoyable. Weird bloomy mid-bass without too much in the sub, yet it doesn't sound thin. I dunno man like a weirder more colored A900. I need to listen more.

Right, i haven't listened to the A900 but I have a A900Ti and it does sound weird even though I can't really put my finger on why? Though the A900Ti weird is not really an enjoyable kind of weird.
I do love the W1000 and W5000 and these headphones both have very peculiar sound signatures. The W10VTG being their ancestor I do hope its sound is to my liking!

I have the A900ti but they're kind of beat up, not sure how to judge them at this point =(

This basically sums up how I felt about them. I got more of the "special" with the Z7 at the cost of a more fatiguing listen, but somehow still worth it...
I'm not sure I'd still feel the same way though.

That has to be one of the coolest designs I have seen in a long long while.
Badged to the hilt, free"stand" in the box, gorgeous.
And I am not talking about the Sony division item ( was wondering when you were going to come clean about those, I noticed something not quite right! )
